even if it saves him £20 on his GTO ...?

How will it do that? Vista will cost like £400 plus a G80.. :)

Thas alot more then the budget will allow.

We are students still in secondary school, Jobs don't pay like they do if you have come out of Uni. :(

Tox - if your mate is willing to spend £200 on a dx9, why not get the 8800gts (the new cheaper one with 1/2 ram is a good option) from one of our state side members - I am sure if you ask nicely they will hook you up.

Then you have a dx10 card ready for new games.

When the r600 launches mid March prices will fall... Hold fire for now

QFT tbh.

hold on a few weeks afer to let the dust settle and a clear price:performance winner is clear.

Also the other 8xxx cards are due soonish.

Not all GTO's memory are clockable up to GTX speeds. The core speed should be no problem. But as I mentioned earlier the whole reasoning behind the GTO was because of a bad batch of memory modules that weren't stabily clocking up to GTX speeds, it varies by card whether or not the memory is going to clock. Mine was lucky, I was able to get up to 830mhz out mine, where as for example Mr. Smith had some problems clocking the memory on his card.

look at the mixit section of Scan http://www.scan.co.uk/mixit/

7900GTO plus Vista Home Basic £198

7900GTO plus Vista Home Premium £211.49 (probably the version that I would get)

Buy them seperately & they're actually about £30 dearer.

I've made an excecutive decision and gone fer the GTO, so thanks fer all your

suggestions guys :D

Now to get the rest of the money...

Being a student really does suck so bad :(
