what to do

hey guys, I am needing a new graphics card, I will be using three monitors for my driving games, but will also be playing bf4. I am planning on buying amd's 7950 card or maybe 2, my question is this, do I buy just 1 card with 3gig of memory or 2 with 6 gig, if I run 2 cards what are the issues with crossfire ? and do I really need 2 cards to run 3 monitors and run bf4 on high settings, I wont be running bf4 with 3 monitors. I have heard conflicting info so any help would be really appreciated

What resolution are your monitors?

3gb should be enough vram but in the future you may wish you had more. bf4 recommended specs say 3gb but if you do decide to run bf4 on your 3 monitors you may need more. for one monitor 3gb will be fine.

most racing games are not very graphically intensive so a single 7950 should be fine for 3 screens

And also, when you have 2 cards that each have 3GB VRAM you'll still have 3GB VRAM, it doesn't stack up.

If you're running 3x 1080p monitors you might want to think about stepping up to an HD 7970 or, even better, a GTX 780. A 7950 just won't play that resolution on high settings so I wouldn't recommend that unless you're fine with turning most settings down.

thanks guys, I will be using 3 27" 1080p monitors, but my main screen is a 120hz monitor for bf3 and will be for bf4.
I have just looked on aria and they are selling the gigabyte windforce gtx 770 oc 4 gig version, would this be a better option than 2 7950's as it gets me away from sli or xfire issues. it works out the same price as 2 7950's £365 and it has 4 gig. money is a issue at the moment

So you're planning to play BF4 on only one screen? In that case I guess a 7950 *could* do the trick. As far as I know, racing games aren't the most graphically demanding ones?

Edit; I'd go for the GTX 770. Less scaling issues, heat, noise and power draw. You'll also have the abilty to add another one later as long as your motherboard and CPU support it.

Grab the HD 7950s, they will give nearly twice the performance of a GTX 770 for the same money.

the only reason I was not playing on 3 screens ,is that I was told it is really hard to see properly, perspectives and all that sort of thing

really, I thought the gtx770 would be more powerfull. I don't know much about graphics cards. thanks for the info.

When you overclock the HD 7950 and GTX 770 they are pretty close to each other in performance.

The difference is you can get two HD 7950s for the price of one GTX 770.
