My current rig consists of:

Opteron 170 @ 255*10

DFI SLI-DR

Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT mem is on a divider as highest it'll run is 218

Raptor 36gb

Wd 250gb

X800GTO2 flasehed to x850 @ Core 540 mem 590

Hiper 580w

The setup is in the proces of being watercooled with storm block, MCW55, Thermochill PA120.2, 1/2 inch tubing, MCW650 pump.

What would be the next upgrade to take?

Am not sure if to do the power supply or memory, memmory is the logical next thing but the PSU is annoying me with the noise. Also speaking of noise the pump will probably be the first to be updated as that whine it makes is aaarrrrggghh!!

So what would you guy's upgrade next and what with?

regards,

Matt

P.S. My monitor is a 17inch CRT and will be upgraded with a tft in a few months once car loan is paid off.

Kenny,

Am not sure at moment - I don't game that much as haven't the time but then again when I do get to game I like the game to run rather well, if you get my drift.

The graphics update will probably come with the monitor upgrade - in a few months time.

regards,

Matt

Going sli will give you a big improvement, but you will need to buy a new power supply first.I suppose it depends on how much you are going to spend?

Personally I'd upgrade to a newer GFX card and PSU. The RAM looks fine as it is, with 2Gb you can't really go wrong.

Thanx guy's for responses.

Budget wise maybe a few hundred, hence the ram or psu debate.

I am leaning towards the ram at the moment - am looking for a 2gb set that'll run at 250 to complement the cpu.

As mentioned earlier I intend to update the graphics when I update the monitor so....

regards,

Matt

I heard a rumour Ballistix have stopped making there 2g sets and are only doing RMA replacements,Gskill would be a good bet or OCZ

For the ram I am leaning towards OCZ but have heard good things about the G-Skill so it would be between them.

PSU wise am thinking of going back to an enermax 600watt jobbie as the 480 watt I had was very quiet - anyone got opinions?

regards,

Matt

No idea mate but it's the unit that was in the Tempest when it went to CPC for review and they like to pick up on noise and no mention was made of it in the mag, so I'm guessing pretty quiet.

There's been a development - lol - a friend mentioned he wanted a modular PSU so I have swapped my Hiper for his enermax 600watt Jobbie, well will be swapping at the weekend.

The wife has piped up that I never built her a pc so I have ended up getting a SFF case, mb, 1gb of cheapy ram, my old x64 3200 cpu and x300 gcard and will be cobbling this together for her.

Whilst this means I can't do the upgrade for my ram - at the moment - it does however allow me to upgrade my pc more often as no doubt this sff pc will be too slow for her, lol! Oh well at least I got sorted with a new PSU.

Thanks for your help guy's - no doubt this thread will be resurrected in a month or twos time for the next upgrade.

regards,

Matt
