what is the best GUI client to use?

i am currently using the systray clients...

GPU & CPU versions 6.23

are there better ones, or is there one app that encumbers both?

what do you use?

i have decided to use the FAH GPU Tracker V2 version 3.51

although by doing so, i lost 2 WUs

but let's see if this is any good!

i have figured it out

checking through the install directories and looking at the text files (logs), i have found out that my SMP WU will not complete until the 27th Feb (8days time) if my PC is left on 24/7.

that's ridiculous!!!

i will wait for about 6hrs, and check it again to see if the PPD are worth it

this is my dev pc and the chances of me crashing are 20% - i would hate to have the mutha fail on me.

if the PPD ratio sucks i may demote it to CPU + GPU, instead of SMP

@dug, in the section for SMP settings you should specify the number of cores you wish to use (in my case 4 ) as the auto setting does not always work apparently.

my 6 cores are maxxed out

8days = 192hrs... so in 1.92 hours it should say 1% - which it didn't - lol

i have manually input 6 in the cores to use box, deleted the previous WU, and started a new one.

i will see if it makes any difference

One last try, which may be something i have read somewhere to do with certain chipsets... instead of using all six cores , try just specifying 5 for use. that might just do it, as i have seen this solution somewhere and cannot for the life of me find it again

i will try 4 cores, and see if that works - but, i am down-right finishing this WU before restarting a new one with the new settings

All of my computers are on the console client. With all cpu's on -smp with 3 on -bigadv, and all GPU's on either GPU2 or GPU3. No systray and NO GPU Tracker. I have found this to be the most flexible and reliable.

I have been reading here (these fourms) about all the various issues with GPU Tracker and have no time for that or the lost points.....

4 cores seem to work okay

SMP(4) + GPU = ~9000 PPD

i will try SMP with 5, after this WU completes.

my point per WU on 4 cores is 900-950

the WU i was given earlier was for 21700 points for 1 SMP WU on 6 cores and so must have been a biggy, and that may have been the problem

that was definietly a biggy.

You are getting just under what I am getting SMP(4) + GPU i'm getting 10.959 with my 2500K @ 4.3ghz and 6850 @ stock.

from FAH GPU Tracker V2 log:

Calling '.\FahCore_a3.exe -dir work/ -nice 19 -suffix 01 -np 5 -nocpulock -checkpoint 3 -forceasm -verbose -lifeline 2984 -version 630'

yay it works on 5 cores BUT my in my task manager/performance it is showing 6 cores thrashing the WU at 100%

i think there must be a bug in FAH GPU Tracker V2 where anything over 4 adds another core

i has disassembled the program in visual studio via net reflector as the app was written in VB, and i am in the process of looking for flaws

Nice, if you make any tweaks or useful modifications upload your version for us please.

IF i find any faults i will contact the original author with my finds and perhaps he/she can make a revision to the software as they see fit
