What graphics choice?

I'm planing to build a new computer in the next month or so. I have chosen the rest of the rig. I'm interested in a solution that would allow me to play most games at high settings at 2560 x 1440. I would like some advice/information on what are the limitation I've heard about regarding the vRam and what i should actually get the budget for graphics is up to about $800 AUD. Thanks in advance.

It's still my opinion that vRam is used if it's available, and other memory is used when it's not, at little performance loss.

Certainly tho, if it can be afforded at the time of purchase, the more vRam, the better.

Hi,

That budget will allow for dual 670's which will provide plenty of power for any game currently on the market.

As I understand when you move to 1440p or 1600p the number pixels are approaching an increase of four times. Is the 2gb of the single cards enough to manage this large resolution and while maintaining max/ultra setting?

I have been told that for best performance that 3gb is recommended can anyone confirm/deny/elaborate on this ?

For single monitor game-play any 2Gb card in your range will work just fine.
Nvidia 670/680 or AMD 7950/70.
If you are contemplating setting up several monitors in the near future, then Vram will come in to effect and you might want to consider to go for 3/4Gb cards.

I have had a look at my "local" retailers and found that i can get the Gigabyte 670 OC 4gb for $500 AUD, I believe this to be a good product does anyone have one or know its it performance?
