Alright guys!

got a friend who is needing a computer for media/photoshop and on/off WoW gaming(i kno hes sad). :D

he has a decent budget of £340 and he says it has too be a cube case...

soo this is what ive come up with so far.

Aplus Case CS-Blockbuster-Storm

450W Corsair CMPSU-450HXUK, Modular

4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS3, DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333)

Asus M4A785TD-M EVO, AMD 785G, AM3

AMD Athlon II X2 240

500GB Samsung HD502HJ Spinpoint F3.

all comes in at £335 delivered scan.

he stated that he wanted no second hand parts and all the parts need too be new and upto date, and he wasnt in need of a graphics card as his current laptop with a 3200 IGP plays wow on lowest justt fine and thats all he requires.

soo do you have any comments on what i should change?.

Can't really see anything wrong there.

But aren't you missing an OS? lol

Plus 4Gb seems overkill if all he uses is Photoshop and plays WoW.

You might want to lower it to 2Gb and invest in a better processor since Photoshop utilises the CPU to the max.

If he uses CS4, then he will need a graphics card to use the 3D capabilities.

he got win7 through that student deal ;) and ive asked if he wants 2GB and he stands strong that he wants 4GB :), but i think ive got him too stretch too get a athlon II 620 which i think would do its job brilliantly

I was shocked to have received 2x pcs the other day that some1 had ordered on the pre-requesit that they were intended for Adobe Audition use mainly. Quad core, 4g, Quadro blah, blah - which has an extremely high price tag attached to the workstation, and it's lease cover. (enough to employ some1 part-time)

So I looked up the requirements, and well a Dell Optiplex 270 (P4, 512m) would run it. (that is just running it ofc)

The software the guy had license for had no Quadro extensions available, the XP destop (which is a contractual use) is 32bit, and the cpu will get 1 core used (or 25% max over 4 cores) - and bearing in mind we had some pretty good C2D/2g machines in stock, it's a good job the guy is no longer with us - imo. IT people < Computer people. Especially since people within his department are looking left and right to see who's being pushed to leave next.

The build in the OP sounds decent enough. 4g is almost a "no need to worry" standard, the cpu is decent, even the 620. If he's comparing to a laptop that sports a 3200, he'll probably like it.

The mobo is interesting, it comes with a HD4200, with a 128m side port for memory. Can this be upgraded ?
