What compund to use with Mach II

This is my first post here so Hello to you all.

I have just received a mach II that I bought from ebay. It is said to have a r507 gas conversion. I have 2 questions.

1. Is there any way I can tell if it has had the gas convertion ?

2. Can I use just about any thermal compound between the chip and head ?

arctic ceramique compound is the best for phase change

Open the side panel and see if an access valve has been brazed on if it has then it may just well have r507

I haven't got any of that at the mo will the usual white goo that you get with a thermalright xp120 do the job till I get some ?
