What chips on my XMS4400C25?

Try 3-3-3-8 FFS do you actually read my posts?

Or try 2.5-4-4-8 - increase the TRFC to 18 also.

Mav

Sorry Mav, every 2nd post suggesting some different actions, can't keep them all in mind :$, will read posts more careful :).

2.5-4-4-8 is rated frequency and should do 275MHz @ 2.75V.

I found review/test on this RAM, where they got out 283MHz @ 2.5-4-4-8 @ 2.65V 8)

Cheers

Calm mav, people miss posts mate.

You need some TCC5 OCZ PC5000 like the ones I'm selling for £90 Andy ;)

Boardy

I recently bought some 7800GTX's from person you know :D and don't have any money left (spare money) :).

What's all this wimpy 2.6V business about? Back in my day of TCCD I used to run overclocked between 2.9-3.0V :)

Increasing voltage to the chipset can help stabilise significantly, well it used to on the older chipsets which used to limit the overclock. The only downside is the chipset can get quite hot, so aftermarket cooling may be necessary ;)

What speeds/ timings are you aiming for? Have you thought about running BH-5 at 275MHz 2-2-2-5? :B

I just want get stable overckock and not aiming for any particular speeds. I don't have much choise anyway: CPU->2.60-2.70GHz and RAM ->260-280 depends on timings...

Why you asking about BH-5, are you trying sell one?:)

Ok guy's, as i mentioned this several times in this forum, i will sell this PC asap and will go for something much powerfull (aiming for good water cooled system):), so i wont spend endless hours geting out last drop from it.

At the mo i had really good experience with RAM, thanks guy's;) and all i'm gona do is i will try get out as stable as possible overclock with settings:

1. CPU 2.60GHz x10 HTT260

RAM 260MHz 2.5-3-3-8 2.92V 1:1

OR

2. CPU 2.70GHz x10 HTT270

RAM 270MHz 2.5-4-4-8 2.92V 1:1

I'll still play around a little bit with RAM and voltage, to see how it affect overclock in general ;)

Cheers

Just wondered why you were running TCCD if you could use BH-5 at them speeds but with tighter timings....

As it happens I do actually have a second set which will do 265+ 2-2-2-5. It'd go higher if you had the patience to burn it in ;)

When i was buying my RAM i did't had any clue about BH-5, TCCD and so on, i just bought it, becouse i read some reviews about it and everyone kept saying that it's a good RAM 8). I still quit new to all this stuff, so it will take some time while i'll learn what is what in overclocking world :).

LOL

Sorry guys,

Not blowing me own trumpet (well actually I am I guess) most advice I supply is golden (showered with a splash of not so shiny stuff) and backed up with a lot of experience (trial and error) - If I take the time to help a brother out - I would expect them to use that help :spoko:

But accpeting your point that there are a lot of people here all giving reasonable levels of advice I should not have jumped in like I did - especially after having not had a good sleep last night - so I apologise for my conduct.

:bighug: It's alright Mav.

I do appreciate your help guy's and i owe you a big time ;), the bigest restriction (to find the sweetest spots on my RAM) is shortage of time (i'm working in stupid company) as it takes a lot of time to do tests...

At the mo i'm trying find rock solid overclock for 24/7 use and looks like i found it:

CPU 2.6GHz x10 1.55V

RAM 260MHz 2.5-3-3-6 2.92V 1:1

At the mo SP2004 runing 12h 13m :) looks fine.

Will do a couple another tests, but i think i'll use these settings when will selling PC 8).

But i still will do some benches for EP-UK team after bordy's 7800GTX's will arive. And then i can use CPU @ 2.8 or 2.85GHz with higher vcore and run RAM @ 285Mhz with loosen timings.

Anyway i'll still play around with RAM to get better speed, but as i said before, i wont go mad with geting last drop out of it, becouse my CPU isn't a best choise and i'm quite limited on it and i'm quite busy @ work and don't have enough time to spend @ PC doing tests:(.

Mav, i will use this post as a good guide in the future and will try to get some BH-5 for my next rig and then we will have some fun :D.

Thanks everyone who tried to help!!!

P.S. As i'm still will try tweek RAM a little bit, might ask some advice later on ;).

Cheers

Stable overclock for 24/7 use!

I finished my tests for 24/7 overclock and settings is like this:

CPU 2.60GHz x10.0 1.55V HTT260

RAM 260MHz 2.5-3-3-6 2.92V 1:1

I increased vcore for chipset as well from 1.51V to1.61V (just in case).

Temps are like this while Prime95 is running:

SP2004 was on for 26h:

Prime95 passed 24h and crashed at 24h 55m, but it doesn't worry me much, if it's been on for so long then i can say it's stable :)

a853193a.jpg

Now i'll play with RAM settings a little bit to make it run for a couple % faster.

BTW can i change settings in A64 or i must use BIOS, as i read somewhere that applying settings from A64 can cause PC crash or freeze, or some another negative effects???

Cheers

Today i had a time to run memtest86 (BIOS). It passed 4 full cycles with no errors.

Out of intrest: when i'm testing RAM with memtest86 how long i should test it to say it's stable???

Cheers

It should go on forever without erroring ;)

60 mins of test 5 will be fine though, make sure you run windows memtest after too though, it stresses the ram loads more than memtest86 does

Just to make it clear.

Are you saying it is enough to run only test 5 (not full cycle)?

And if Windows memtest stresses RAM much more than memtest86 then whats the point to run it 8).

Cheers
