I am looking into getting a 7970 card for now until I get r4eady to build my new rig. I usually dont buy Radeon cards, but have seen some good things about that card. So I dont know what brands to look at and which ones to stay away from. This is what I am running now...

MSi 990FX GD80
Phenom II x6 1090T
GTX 460 SSC
Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3 1600
Corsair AX850
WD Black 1TB

The reason for the new card is because when I play Blops 2, it takes a how 2 mins for my graphics card to kick in at the start of every match. I can only run about 15-20 FPS for that first 2 mins. Then I get my normal 100-120. I cant figure out what the deal is.

What card do you currently have?
Have you tried fixing the problems before just buying a new one?

And what resolution / how many monitors are you running?

Any of the major brands will be good. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, XFX, Sapphire and Powercolor are all good brands and Id buy their cards without any reservations. To date Ive owned MSI, Powercolor, and Sapphire AMD/ATI cards and all have been just fine.
