What boxes do you keep?

Do you all live in a mansion or have a garage/basement in your house where you store all of the boxes?... Damn, I can't be the only one living in an small apartment, with almost no space for them  As WYP said, it's hard getting rid of boxes :p

I have a basement storage with my apartment, about 5m x 3m so plenty of space for me. :)

It's the loft for me. I don't tend to keep anything longer than I need or have use for it, so my house is pretty much empty of clutter which a stark opposite to the rest of my family haha

I just am a professional stacker and have OCD about organization. Fits in my tiny closet in my room. Still have all the usual stuff in there too.

Yeah I have a box of boxes that went through 5 different house moves over 4 years, I used a huge sturdy cardboard box for a gas heater, and found a fair few boxes could be folded down without damage, or things could fit within other boxes, and you could end up fitting quite a lot in as long as you kept them neat, only keeping for things of high value, or that I may resell or need to RMA. Now I'm somewhere stable though, they take up about 2/3rds the space under my bed.

Im seriously surprised a thread like this is still going haha

How boring are we that we enjoy debating how we keep our boxes, myself included :D

That is something I'd really like to see to be honest!

Well even the simplest things in life are sometimes hard/difficult... I mean, it's a legit question, since as you can see, everyone basically has this issue

I'm just (the) dumb enough to also ask it... I mean, only a thread of mine could go on this long, with a question this random

I'm loving this thread. It's interesting to see how everyone goes about box management.

I'm amazed that it has gone on this long. We need more random threads like this.

I think this sums it up for everyone:

I used to be so into it. Then the logistics hit me. I was paying so much money in reduced council tax in my old flat for space, just to hold bloody air.

So there we have..

2x Palit GTX 670 Jetstream
2x Palit GTX Titan black
Radeon 7990
OCZ Revodrive
Corsair Dom Plats
MSI Big Bang Xpower 2 X79
CHV
X79 Gigabyte UD3
Killer E2100
SB Fatal1ty with front panel
Corsair H110
Corsair RM750
XFX 750w
Intel Xeon E5 V2
AMD FX 8320 (still got that :) ) tin
Four Corsair Nova 60gb SSDs (I had all four in RAID 0. I got them for £5 each, new and untested :O ) The guy thought they were dead.
Razer Boomslang (still got it in the box !)
Steelseries stuff.

It all went in the bin. I also threw away 8 Beats audio boxes for all of my headphones and god knows what else. What I do know? my old flat cost me £29 a month in reduced council tax. My old flat cost me £340 in water bills (because of the square feet, never mind it's one bloody person in there using water !!) which was more than my mother's house and etc. Now? my water bill is £90 every six months. So £180 a year so almost half.

That's a big price to pay for keeping boxes, mang. So yeah, now once something is out of warranty it either gets sold in the box or the box goes in the bin. Ain't gonna lie I do have my Titan XP box but then hey, I still have my Titan XP.

The funny part is that I guess you guys are all kinda suckers. Why? well, if you ever have to RMA a product the first thing it says in big black writing is DO NOT return anything but the board and do not send the original packing.

Why? 'cause they toss them out and it comes back in a refurb brown box. So if you send the boxes in ? you never get them back. I learned that the hard way with my limited ed Scorpio Xbox. They never sent back the original box.

So please bear that in mind, whilst also packing totally OTT so they don't try and blame you for crap you didn't do. But yeah, no accessories, no IO shield nothing. Or they'll lose it and their disclaimer covers them from not sending it back to you.

That is maybe true when you live in normal country. Here in Serbia the warranty isn't provided by the manufacturer (ASUS, DELL, MSI,...) It is provided by the store where you bought it. And they are not official distributors. So that part varies depending where you are.

Except that isnt the case everywhere. I RMA via my local store, and they always prefer to have the boxes returned. Why? well, they give me the option of choosing another item brand new. The old box is then used with the refurb and resold as such.

For me that is perfect. Also they think its dumb to return just the product, since consumers will package it in any old box, or bag, in what they think is protected insulation, to which the product gets damaged in transit and manufacturer then disputes some of the comments regarding the issue of the RMA... *cough ASUS*

I don't see myself as a sucker. In fact. When I resell products I can sell it for more than the usual prices since box is perfect. So its not all about the RMA.
