What boxes do you keep?

Heya everyone,

I’ve always wondered if, and in that case, what or which product boxes does people usually keep? Out of warranty reasons, selling used or similar...

Do you keep all of your boxes or just for specific parts, such as CPU, GPU and motherboard or what? And for which reason(s)?...

Does anyone keep their keyboard and mouse boxes for example? Even if they were quite expensive to purchase?...

Regards,

I keep the boxes for most things. Especially if the value of the product is high. GPUs, motherboards etc.

If I sell anything later down the line, I like to sell it boxed and if I store anything I like to store it properly, and where's better than the original box?

I keep the boxes for most things, that's my answer. If I don't have space, I get rid of some boxes.

Same as WYP. Except I make room for boxes :D

I keep my boxes too, which becomes painful if you have a large monitor fetish. Those boxes are HUGE! At one point, I was seriously considering hanging the boxes for my 35" ultrawides ON THE WALLS, just to get them out of the way, LOL! :D

Maybe I was a bit unclear in my original post, but IF you need to get rid of some boxes due to, as in your own case, moving to a smaller place, which stuff do you get rid off/how do you decide which stuff to get rid off in that case?...

I got rid of the boxes of components that I knew I would never sell. PSUs that are in use and out of warranty, some monitor boxes, the box of my office/work rig's motherboard and the boxes of graphics cards that I won't ever sell. (R9 380 and GTX 960, both have no real value used).

Basically, the first to go were for components whose boxes would never receive use again. I still have a lot of boxes, but nowhere near as many as before. You need to be brutal, and by doing that you can get rid of a lot of stuff. I mostly have motherboard and GPU boxes now, which are easily stacked.

I keep all, the resale value on a product with a box in almost perfect condition allows me to push my price up quite alot and makes the buyer think the product is just as well looked after (which it often is)

I keep all of mine and try to fit as many as possible inside the case box, kinda like it as it contains everything I'd need if I sold any components or an RMA down the line.

Haha well damn, this thread was not how I expected to be honest... I thought that the majority threw most boxes away and didn't keep them.

I'm in WYP's position, recently moved to an apartment and hence wanting to have less boxes. But keeping them for warranty reasons mostly really.

Well.... that is something I can't do unfortunately. Since not much fits inside an NCASE M1 box in the first place. Barely an ITX motherboard box fits inside of it ^_^

1 ikea box can fit several boxes. Box in a box in a box.

Im lucky, I have a 1000D case box which holds EVERYTHING :D

Haha yeah my Cosmos 2 box was like that. My new flat is actually smaller lmao.

I just can't keep them any more.

I love boxes. :D I keep them all. Boxes are a part of the product. I remember when I have bought my first proper Seasonic PSU (yes I was one of those guys who cheeps out on a PSU when I was younger) I was more impressed with a box and the packaging then I was with the raw quality of the unit. I usually sell my old parts, and they go quicker and for higher price when cleaned and in original box. I also hate when I receive used part in a random box. I have a feeling that those parts weren't cared for.

When I need to throw boxes away... Well... My parent's house is only 2 hour drive away. So I bring them over there. It is a big house and they use maybe a third of it. And I started stating that they must not throw them away because of warranty. My mother sometimes gets into a cleaning frenzy and just throws everything out. So many beautiful boxes gone.

Motherboard and GPU boxes just incase I need to RMA and also the case box so I can put my rig in there if I move and this time I kept my CPU box as it looks like a Destiny engram :D

Which is a 98% certainty in most cases with you hahaha

You know what, when I saw the 9900k box, the first thing I thought of was Destiny rare engram! I cant unsee it. Even in game when they drop im thinking "ooh look i got another 9900k"

I've kept all of mine.

My PC Case came in a aircraft storage box so most of my boxes and unused parts are stored in there!
