One of my WD hard disks is making a weird buzzing sound every now and then... should I get it RMAed as soon as possible?
FragTek New member Dec 6, 2007 #2 If it sounds out of the realm of normality then yes, I would backup the data ASAP and send her off for replacement. Have you tried running a SMART scan to see what the status of the drive is?

I think I will get an Advance Replacement from WD for this one because I have no where to put the data, lol! SMART scan says the drive is fine, but every now and then I get a noise as if there is a wasp in my case (no, there isn't a wasp in there )

Are you 100% positive that the sound is coming from a hard drive, as in you have pulled the hard drive from the case and isolated to where you can monitor only the sound coming form the suspected drive?
