Watercooling my Wavemaster :)

Hey guys...

This is only using a Waterchill Kit, however, its my first proper venture into watercooling and im using a small case so I wanted small tubes to get me started.

Here's my little project so far!

Couple of things to notice...

1 - VGA Block doesn't fit the 6800 Ultra without drilling another hole in the VGA acrylic.

2 - Notice the Anti leak precautions ontop of the gfx card? LOL spot the wimp with watercooling and a £400 gfx card!! lol

Very nice job Cashman, I'm thinking of doing a similar job on my cheaper Cavalier case.

Where did you get the hole cutter from and what size is it? Thanks.

Hey Zax,

The holesaw cost me about £25 with the Arbor Included.

You need a 114mm Holesaw for a 120mm hole and the appropriate Arbor for that size Holesaw. They last about 100 cuts so you could easily sell it on afterwards as everyone wants to cut holes in their cases :)

Search on Google for: 114mm Holesaw... and then I used the first sponsered link at the top.. called HolesawsRus or summat ROFL!!.

Good luck mate.

I would add tho... if you have the money, buy one of Phil's cases, im sure they're are better and you wont have a heartattack when you're about to cut up your favourite case.

Cheers Cashman for the info, I'll post up some pics of my work if all goes well.

Phil, if you read this, what do you reckon? should I buy one of your cases? ;)

forget the dye & cathodes mate..

maybe some white cathodes but defo no more UV or blue...

thats just sooo last year ;)

quick question though.. why not cut out the hole over the mesh part ?

Looks very nice cashman. I'm a big fan of those coolermaster cases.

Lol, i love the way style is a part of the modding community now, things go in and out of fashion.

How did you find drilling a hole in the waterchill lid? What did you use to do it?

Very nice job you've done there, i like that wavemaster.

How are your temps?

Have you used that case on your GT, i spy a little hole in the bottom there ;)

Thanx for all the nice comments lads!

Master_G> Yeah I used this case with my GT, but unfortunately I have now sold the beast and just stuck with plain old watercooling. Dead happy with the w/c tho as its less hassle than the GT was.

Temps are great. Now I have added the X850XT to the loop, I get 34.c on the CPU and 50.c on the X850Xt when its clocked to 580/600. I replaced the Sunon fan for a silent Akasa blue led one so its not so powerful but is pretty and silent :)

In the end I decided not to drill the VGA lid, I simply sold my 6800 Ultra and Asus A8V and bought a DFI SLI-DR & X850XT... although the way that guy did his on Vapochill/forums was really sweet!!

MacMad> If you look a little closer... the Wavemaster comes with two options for the top panel. You can use the grill and have the top panel as a 80mm blowhole or you can use the i/o panel they supply.

Basically, this panel has a Firewire, mic, headphones, 2xUSB in it and thus I wanted to try and save that if I could. Also, I have never used all 4 optical drive bays and so I decided to ditch my CD Writer and just use a DVD and CD Writer combo as well as the fan controller.

Yeah mate, its quite cool, I have to admit tho that I dont use it enough, but i thought it'd be a shame to lose it completely.. lol... although nnow I think id quite like a double rad ;)

Translation by The Andy Goodwin Keyboard Dyslexia Support Bot:

Could you please resize your image (1024 x 768 would be appropriate) as it takes a fair while to download using my spiffingly fast ADSL connection, and I think it may well reduce the poor people using steam and elastic band powered access (dial up) to either tears or suicide.

:D

there you go lads... smaller pic... loks bettter too.

Right the UV Cathodes are from Phil here at Extreme prometeia... they are 2 x 12" Cathodes for £8 :) Bargain actually!

The Dye is UV Yellow.

I have to admit, I am a fan of smaller bore tubing (mmmm Aqua Computer) and the dye really looks good with the DFI :)

Nice rig mate!
