watercool video card, need advise

Hi all,

I've been running my rig with single loop to cpu water cooling for awhile. They've been working well. Lately i start to notice how hot my video card is when i play 3d game ( BFG 8800GT OC2 x2 ). Stock fan/heatsink give me around 75c full loaded.

My question is, is the video card i had using Nvidia reference design? Because some video WC block said need to be reference design to fit. 2nd question is, currently i'm using C2Q6700 cpu on a HWLab 360 Rad. Is it enough to cool both video card on top of C2Q cpu (full load cpu temp is around 34c)? 3rd question i want ask is, how to deal with the 2nd video card heat on the loop? Most likely it will be the 3rd water block go through if i connect all together using single loop, and this will make loop very hot i believe.

The block I'm looking for is the XSPC Razor 8800GT one (coz it has cool lighting effect:yumyum:)
 
Yes the more components you connect to the loop the higher the temps will be and the more restrictive it will be. A 360 rad should be fine as long as U have a good pump and cpu block.

Do you mean getting another 8800GT and going SLI? If so then 1 loop for a quad and 2 8800GT's maybe pushing it.

i'm running SLI atm already. so i guess that means it may not work well. any suggestion for a C2Q + SLI rig?
 
Ah right, well I am not expert, but that would be a lot of heat. Hopefully someone else can give u a more accurate answer.
 
Are you still working on this issue? If so, I wanted to make sure I understood your loop...

Your present loop is CPU only:

Res - Pump - CPU - Rad

And you are wanting to add your 2xGPUs to the loop:

Res - Pump - CPU - GPU - GPU - Rad

Is that right?

This is similar to what I have *just* put together (finished the plumbing last night) and what I did was insert a second radiator between the CPU and GPU pair, and split/combine the flow before/after the GPU blocks.

So far it seems to be working great, but a leak test is just a leak test!

Mr Target has explain exactly what i shall be doing with my setup. I'm moving from a Coolermaster Centurion (cramped for WC) to a TJ07 (spacious).

I have a C2Q and 8800GTX in SLi with a PA120.3 rad (with Yate SL fans) cooling. At stock clocks in the current british summer i am seeing 63C at load and 75C when at 3GHz.

My GTX will pump out more heat than your GT given its revision but your rad is no where near what will be needed. When i was CPU only after a few hours the system would reach 70C by heatsoak from the GTXs but at 3.8GHz before heatsoak could take effect it was 35C at load. This shows you the heat load the GPUs add to your loop (another 35C at least) and that is with the biggest and best rad available. The GTXs run 74C at idle with stock cooler and thermal cut out is 110C so expect heat issue when your GT is connected.

When I move to the TJ07 I will have 2x PA120.3 as that is the only way it will cope with the heat load. Have a butchers at my thread If you wanna see my problems.

Your best bet is a second rad between the CPU and GPU as Mr Target said but the GPU will give more heat than the CPU so make sure its the biggest and best you can fit in.
