Water Cutting

I know Tom has a contact that does this kind of work for him, but does anyone know of engineering firms that will do this on a one off basis to a brief??

Preferably in the midlands area as I'm drawing a blank from all the firms I've tried so far.

Cheers

Lee

I'm in Leicester and would love to hear if there are any good firms round here that will do it. If I do find any I will also post them too

I may have found a guy in coventry. Think i'm going to see him on friday, they look fairly well setup so i'll let them do the work on my side panel and let you know the quality and cost.

Do you think they can also fit the acrylic? I wonder if there is such a place in London... If not I'll just go over to this place youre doing it @ and get it done there

you know you are not just held to water jet cutting. there is also laser cutting, which has a thinner cut and can get more intricuit.

I had also considered laser cutting, but steered towards water cut due to the temperatures involved and the fact my case side is powder coated already.

Also wasn't sure about the cost differential between to two. I did speak to a engineering firm in leicester who does some laser cutting of ATR boxes for my company, and one of the cheif engineers said that it's fine on bare metal as it wouldn't create enough residual heat to tarnish surrounding material, but there was a risk with a powder coated/painted piece that it may ignite/discolour so they couldn't assure me that some rework of the coating wouldn't be required.

You need to design it all yourself or youll end up getting arse rapped. Most places charge a fortune to draw it for you AND a minumum booking charge too.

Some places will charge 200quid to cut a window and 200 quid to cut 10 windows....

Hi Tom,

I've got the design ready, what I really need is details from the guy with the hardware of the CAD files his system will accept (I've got autocad available at work to me) I'm expecting it to be in the region of £100 but don't think it's too unreasonable for a complete 1 off. At least with the CM 690 II he can keep uprgrading the hardware and still maintain a unique case.

I'm just waiting on my nebula blue coolant now - did mayhem send you any of the aurora fluid for rigs yet?

I figured you would have, just don't think i've seen it used in a rig. (this is where you tell me it was in this rig on this date GO LOOK!!!)

I've just had my 2 bottles arrive, and no camera. Arse Biscuits.

yeah, i just had a sandblast quote on a case frame for $45.00 for 30min labor. a lil outta the park on pricing.
