Watch AMD's Vega livestream here

Would have been a waste of time any way. Remember they showed Doom running at 4k 60 FPS? what they didn't show you was this.

So there was an FPS dip...that happens. I'm sorry but if I have to lower SOME of the settings to high / very high rather than ultra I will still call this a big win for 4k gaming as getting anywhere close to 60fps has been a hard thing.

Overall still calling this a win, especially (hopefully...) at the pricing that Vega will be brought at...we can hope its not stupid expensive!

I'm still going for 1070 performance. However, I doubt it will be 1070 price because of the HBM2.

I apologise for my lack of excitement, but I already own two GPUs in that performance bracket so this is offering nothing to me tbh.

If they had kept the hype at minimum I might have been impressed like I was with the 480. No performance hype there, just price hype that ended up coming through 100%. I like the 480 because it came in at the right price.

Vega though? they are hyping it like they have a Titan XP killer. Which is completely stupid. It's stuff like this that AMD could avoid doing easily. All it does is let people down and gives the Nvidia fanboys more ammo.

The problem with this is, if that wasn't just a spike—which can happen and isn't necessarily indicative of ultimate performance—then AMD are only competitive with a 1070 in Vulkan. This means they'll be even less in DX11 games, which are still a staple. If 1070 performance is all they can achieve, the new Vega GPU NEEDS to be cheaper. And then we will need another couple of GPU's after that to match the 1080 and compete with Nvidia flagships, both from Pascal and Volta. Someone corrected me the other day on this forum that AMD "don't throw shade". I knew they were wrong and AMD's recent video proves that. They are seemingly aiming for Vega to compete with Volta, not just Pascal. That is a tall order.

Ah sorry mate, I understood that it was consistent - my bad!

There's a video that AMD themselves put up on there youtube channel of it with the dip in it, so it's not like they hid it its just people like to bash on AMD because it's the in thing to do, people forget that without them not a lot of us would be getting graphics cards at the prices we do. Anyway back on topic, hopefully AMD will sort out another live stream at some point in the near future

It goes back and forth between both AMD and Nvidia / Intel users and it's silly I'm sure we can agree.

I sincerely hope that AMD will launch a strong competitive product to challenge Nvidia its top tier cards rather than the mid range, and give them a pounding - will be good for both sides. I also hope we will soon get reviews by other than AMD (because they will always be biased for obvious reasons (Nvidia does the same)); I only care for the believability of those.

How long before AMD release Ryzen and vega, and is it going to be a short enough time that people don't get tired of hearing it's on the way and go buy something else

That Scottish guy from YouTube suggested Vega might not be out until May. But waiting until May is surely not a good idea if they have functional silicon now. That's five more months of potential costumers giving in and going for a 1070 or 1080 instead. Also, if they do have working silicon that is "very, very competitive", why wait until May? Unless they know they need to squeeze more out of it, get that sucker out.

I think overall Vega will be a staggered release, which I don't like. I'd rather we had the major contenders out at once (like the Fury line) so that people know what it is they want to purchase from the stack, at least at the high-end. Then the midrange stuff that's supposedly replacing Polaris will come later. I still don't buy into that rumour, but we'll see.

If it is May, I think they will miss the boat it will of sailed and be on the return journey, I think people were expecting it now and possibly have money put by for it, and by may Nvidia will have the next 1080 upgrade in the rumour mill
