Ill try it tomorrow afternoon. Would you like only maximum men usage? If you look at the bf3 clan you'll see some pics of bf3 that might surprise you. Ill look now for a link to the picture.

In know this is an anomaly but just as well.

battlefield 3, ultra preset, 1080P,2337MB, Msi gtx 580 Lightning Extreme.

bf3_2012_03_13_21_07_40_513.jpg

Ill get some more normal results tomorrow.

That is a heck of alot for a 1920x1080 resolution. But I have seen some anomalies, possibly from the games not being run from a clean boot - I don't know. Seen some crazy stories of over 1g for desktop-esq games.

Be interesting to see the OSD from clean boot desktop and then ingame.

BF3 is meant to be a monster tho. Nice to see some other games reported.

Welcome the input, want to find a reference point for types of games and vram use. Engines too maybe.

I've got matey's computer in the lab, and there are limited games on there atm, but we'll take a look anyways. It's a nicely oc'd 2600k(4.5)/8G(~2000/CL9)/GTX480-1.5G(785/1950)/2xSSD and tuned Win7x64. All stress tested. Resolutions are going to be 1920x1200x32 and highest settings possible, the GfxCard drivers are set to use Quality over Performance, I'll note where reductions are made or can't be selected. Generally Vsync is on.

As a base from desktop, it's good to recognize only 91mb of vram is used, and when you return to desktop from a game (or atleast the ones here) it returns to 91mb.

First off Medieval 2 Total War (Shader model 2 is the era we're looking at with this game) :

s_medieval2_2012_03_27_20_42_29_870.jpg

I tried to get this as busy a screen as I could off a saved game that's 170 turns in. All the effects are on and the unit sizes are decent, selected all units and attacked. 684mb in use.

Next is Mass Effect 3 :

s_masseffect3_2012_03_27_21_18_27_733.jpg

Not great to judge from the opening of a game, but here it shows 397mb. Chances are this is a smaller sandbox (I don't know I don't play it).

Reckoning is next :

s_reckoning_2012_03_27_20_36_35_047.jpg

I have played this myself. Everything is set to max and the sandbox is huge outside. It's a game that was going to be an mmo, then went just rpg. Very WoW-esq in terms of use I would *think*. 326mb.

Last from last-night is Metro 2033 (this is where I figured the fan would be covered in brown stuff) :

s_metro2033_2012_03_27_21_45_30_887.jpg

I don't play this either, and again you can't set in stone an opinion from what I'd suggest is a limited opening scene sandbox (I don't know), but all the effects are on and maxed, PhysX and Dx11, BUT MSAA selection would fail - and I'm guessing by looking at the 1234mb, that it's cos there isn't enough vram. (far be it for the programmers of the game to recognise this and prevent the selection - no, they'd rather you crash your game and hunt the 'net looking for a solution to get started again)

The Elder Scrolls | Skyrim:

s_tesv_2012_03_28_20_14_11_381.jpg

Ultra preset, 741mb.

Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings:

s_witcher2_2012_03_28_21_08_51_284.jpg

Ultra preset, 856mb.

L.A. Noire:

s_lanoire_2012_03_28_21_30_00_088.jpg

Quality settings, highest values for the rest, 558mb.

EDIT: Note to Jim, Full Editor works well on Lion/Safari. infact everything looks good.

EDIT: Not uploading screens any longer, just going to note figures. Want to test WoW on the weekend if I can.

I'd really appreciate anyone/everyone do the info for any of the games they're currently playing. The more the better, and duplications would be excellent - especially different resolutions.

Don't worry about the game engine details if you don't know them, just the game name is fantastic.

(I'm grossly overdosing on the new Like buttons for everyone who contributes and posts info with screenshots - Squish-em)

I'll do Mass Effect 3, Crysis, Crysis 2, BF3 and MW3 1920x1080 on my 1GB 6850 tomorrow if I get the chance.

I would definitely help out if I could fella. Thing is, I don't have a proper PC at the moment. However, I plan on buying a new rig in about a month or so, featuring an i7-3770k (unless it's overpriced) and a mid/high-end GTX6xx/HD7xxx graphics card. If I come across this thread again after I've built the new rig, I will contribute however much I can.

Right, I did Crysis 2, MW3 and BF3. For some reason Afterburner didn't work on the original Crysis or Mass Effect 3.

All done on an Asus DC EAH6850 1GB, during game play I have never seen the full 1GB used, very close but never the full 1GB.

Massive respect for the time taken so far guys. Right now I have to wait to get to my Mac to do editing as using IE at work just doesn't work with the forum editor. I'll next get to update Sunday I imagine.

Try to get some more of my own subs in too.

Good stuff, I'm all for older and new games

Some older games are better than new ones !!

Anyone posting/reading who's playing WoW would be great.
