I was around in the original VR hype of the early 90's......that didnt end well either.

This will go the way of '3d Gaming' eventually.

So they're basically saying it's going to be stupid expensive, then...

Also - Negs, yeah I have a funny feeling it just won't become popular enough to warrant the dev time, especially if it's expensive. It deffo sounds too much like Nvidia 3Dvision (tee emm)

amd hd3d.

TBH this time VR has a good bit of backing, with the VR SDKs already being implemented into some major game engines.

Hopefully it will stick this time as it will really push for faster consumer/gaming PCs, which means that we will need faster hardware and better SLI/CF support for graphics.

We need a new Crysis to push hardware forward and VR might be it.

Less microstutter in SLI/CF could be wish-worthy since stutter will make you absolutely sick in any VR/3d Vision application.

Precisely! My hope is that the multi-GPU benefits of DX12 and the sheer amount of computing power that VR will require will give developers and AMD/Nvidia to work to improve how multi-GPU systems function.

If they can make multi-GPU better it might make me consider SLI or CF again, but right now I don't see myself doing it again outside of testing purposes.

With such an outlay and the great unknown of 'how it will work for me personally' I can see them needing a lot of demos out there or a pretty good return policy.

I know you guys in the UK/Euro have some good consumer protection but if we buy it here and use makes us feel nauseous then we're stuck with it or the second hand market.

I so want this to work but I think a lot of people will sit on the fence until the tech and software has matured a bit and we know if we'll love it or vomit.

Not interested in VR at all personally. To me it feels like 3d gimmicks all over again with tv's and AMD/Nvidia. Personally I'm more excited for oled/hdr monitors at 120/144hz when DP 1.3 monitors hit market next year

Tried Alien Isolation not long ago with the Rift DK2 at a work mates place and holy balls it was immense although the low res did ruin it a little but still it was heart pounding playing A.I with VR.

Be cause of my eye sight, I doubt it will be something that works well for me, so not something I'll be jumping to
