Firstly Welcome to the best UK site for overclockers, modders and general hardware killers
Okay I can help you here.
GPU MOD
The mods are using VR resistors and volts start at 1.55v (VR fully slackened off) which is good for between 530 and 550mhz - thats as high I would recommend with air cooling (530mhz for stock cooler and 550mhz for improved cooling such as Zalman or Arctic Cooling).
1.68v should get you 600mhz under watercooling - 1.7-1.8v for chilled water mods gets you up to 650mhz (not guaranteed).
VDIMM MODS
2.2v (which is VR slackend off) should see you crack 1425mhz - recommended for air cooled
Watercooled 2.4v should see you reach 1480mhz (BIOS Mod could see you reach 1550mhz).
Chilled water with blocks that also cool the ram and using ramsinks on the ram at the back will allow 2.5v and will see you max out the ram.
i was going to get an innovatek watercooling (that covers the ram and gpu) and a watercooling block for the mosfets on the back of the card. If i didnt pre-chilll the coolant, what overclock could i get?

With 1.67v you will rech 600mhz core speed - ram is the luck of the draw unless you are willing to flash the BIOS, but typically 2.4v will get you close to 1500mhz (start at 1475 and work upwards) I kept the metal blackplate on and stuck OCZ Ramsinks to them to help keep the ram cool - but you probs dont need them for 2.4v
is it true that the 256mb versions have ram modules on the back? Also, as ive never done it before, what is a bios mod? (also, if i wanted to "chill" the coolant, how would i do it?)

Yes it is, google for reviews of the 7800GTX and you will see the design profile with the heatsink removed.
You would chill the coolant using a waterchiller - you can get these made by contacting teh sales office at www.ep-uk.co.uk.
A BIOS mod is something that if you do not know what it is, you should google it and do a lot ofreading before you undertake such actions. Essentially it is a firmware update for your cards - some are custom made by users to improve performance or clocks, or make specific adjustments that optimise the cards function to the needs of the user.
I suggest you use Rivatuner - it's a great tool that allows you to unlock a lot of the features and make many performance enhancing changes by using software in Wondows, this means you can optimise without having to modify the the firmware at all.
Cool - i checked the location of the ram on google. Do you think that i could get some ramsinks to go on the if my waterblock doesnt cover them? I was goign to check out rivatuner, but didnt have time, so ill do that in the next few days.
Id like to say thanks to all the help that ive been given (this is a great website and forum)
