how to make sidebar dont star on windows startup, i right clicked the taskbar icon, properties unchecked the run on windows startup, but it still run each time i run the windows, i even checked the startup applications with "your uninstaller" application, and it doesnt shows the sidebar as a strtup applications. any hint?

Hmmm...

Download and install CCleaner then click on "tools", then "startup" then find "Sidebar" and disable it.

It's how I disabled mine.

nice application zak4994 but again sidebar doesnt shows in the startup of this application also... weird no?

I guess the regisrty has been removed then.

Try enabling the startup setting in the program so the registry setting will appear, then disable it.

Hmmm...

Not really sure that there is anything left to do.

This might work, try re-naming the "sidebar.exe" program to "sidebar.OC3D.exe" in this directory "C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar".

Without quotation marks of course.

while i laughed when i saw your last suggestions, knowing that the sidebar is a system file or shared or windows system application that is runing in background so no way to rename it, i turned again and said "yeah why not, already it's a weird problem, why not going weird" but no man, no way to rename it.

thanks nathan, this is a very informative link, i changed the local system policy, and yes side bar is not loaded on startup, but instead i get a msg that say "windows sidebar is managed by your administrator", so the side bar is trying to load but faced by the local system changes, and pop this msg, i dunno why it still try to load up, something is forcing it but this is something really annoying and weird.

have you tried msconfig/ startup items? you might want to try disabling uac security option. otherwise it sounds like you have something corrupt in your registry. ccleaner should have made this very simple.

öhm... Just a very simple one which will probably upset you:

What about reinstalling sidebar (guess it's on the ms site somewhere) and disabling the checkbox again?

No way to re-install it without re-installing all of Windows.
