Vista = not installing =/

My uncle has given me his new Dell Laptop (Inspiron 1720) and wants me to format, install and customise it for him (not the Dell-end software usually included). So i formatted, started install process. All went well till "Completing installation". I noticed this took like...forever? Left it overnight to be greated by a mouse pointer on a black background. Able to move it but nothing else - i restarted it and now all it does it that green progress bar thingy (loading vista thing). Its not a smooth transition at all like it freezes briefly every now and again. I've tried formatting again, (like 3 times) with the dell disk. Might end up doing my own (what could be doin this?)

cheers

I think your problem may lie there. I'm not sure of the logistics but Dell are known to lock their hardware to their own Windows build.

I have been trying to do it with their supplied DELL disk anyway. I have my own XP copy on my DELL laptop. Dont think its that

Ok installed off my other disk..vlite didnt want to work on any machine i tried it on. Now it boots, bsods as soon as windows load bar goes, restarts, asks for safe mode etc. and either does the same (load normally) or safe mode...it stops on crcdisk.sys then reboots =/

Network stuff imo.

That stoopid progress thing sticking, moving forever, on most windows, is down to it trying to resolve something network wize. Can be the nic, firewire, wireless.

Perhaps switching them off in the bios until u`ve done a full install, might help.

Errr..its worked?!?!

I noticed in bios that the drive controller was on some weird setting (as bios default???) compared to ATA. I changed it and now its working :/

wtf? Dellends...
