Vista and XP

Really, I used Vista a month ago, and it still crashes, freezes, explorer dies, over half of what I use isn't compatible. Not even Windows Live Messenger. tried both 32 and 64 Bit Ultimate Vista and they both do this. XP, not a single problem, 32 Bit XP is perfect, 64 Bit XP sucks, but why do people use Vista x64. Are there some good fixes, programs that magically fix Vista or something?

Vista SP1 is pretty good, with only a few really old games not working (sniff...I miss powerslide). Although I am getting a few BSODs on overclocking for non apparent reasons...I don't have a secondary processor as far as I know so why is it not getting an interrupt signal?

What are the hardware details of ur pc ?

And what are the "usual" software installs u use ?

Ever since I got Vista, I've never even looked at XP. Vista is brilliant and lots quicker on my system (probably because my XP is crowded with games and applications), but never-the-less Vista rules.

The people who actually knock Vista are judging a book by its cover, looking at bad reports and passing on a third person view. Yeah Vista isn't perfect but neither was XP back in its starting days. Give Vista some years to settle in and it will be perfect.

I never knocked XP in it`s early days cos ME was it`s predecessor, if u look sidewards of 2000.

Difference moving to Vista, is that ur previous PC that would have been more than happy with XP can now be crippled by Vista for various reasons.

However, if u buy all nice kit and take the propper steps, Vista doesn`t run badly. (popping XP back on it is kinda awkward as 32bit XP was the general flavor, even tho it will be a heck of alot quicker than ur previous XP build).

So u could ask urself, why didn`t I just buy new hardware for my XP ?

Vista fails to file handle - is one of my major gripes. It doesn`t like many networking pcs that aren`t also Vista. There is no "up a level" in explorer. UAC. But I can disable or install alternatives to these, after spending high dollar on retail Ultimate DVDs.

Everyone one used their OS's in different ways and obviously in your case it doesn't work the way you want it and for others it just works.

If you have built a custom rig for Vista (without any of the rubbish that was present in your old system) it will be more powerful than your old rig (probably) and will therefore run better.

Yes there are problems, but mainly its because you are trying to use 10 year old software on a 64bit environment, which is pretty daft. XP seemed more stable, but that could be vista reporting its faults rather than bottling them up for an explosive disk wreck 6 months down the line.
