Hi Guys,

This is my first attempt at overclocking a machine.

Seems to be running pretty ok at this. Any reccomendations to increase Performance of CPU and Memory?

Setup

NZXT Lexa Aluminium

MSI -P7N Zilent edidtion

Q6600 running @ 3.0

OCZ PC-6400 4GB (2x 2GB)

MSI Nvidia 7800GT (next thing to be replaced)

Just to add i am hoping to get between 3.4-3.6... (On air) idle cpu's run between 30-38 (37 37 30 31 as taken from core temp) which is now running at 3015. I think reading through the forum awhile this afternoon that the memory needs tweaking as shown in the pic below.

Any assistance on this would be appreciated thanks

Thanks guys

You could tighten up the timings. 5-5-5-15 should do you.

As far as i can see from the super small pic your doing fine atm, keep pushing the CPU to find its limits before you move onto memory. And good job :).

Cheers for the info Ham, will try timings shortly, have also increased pic size to 800x600.

Cant seem to find any settings that work beyond this point unfortunately. Anyone else got same board/cpu config i can steal info from?

Cheers

Just tried the memory timings as suggested as it is exactly the same however there are about 10 settings in total the remaing are set to Auto?

I found my Q6600 ran stable with satisfying temps (peak at 66c) at 3,375 (375x9) at a vCore of 1,3425, but that was on my P5N-T Deluxe. I couldn't get it to run stable if I set the multi to something other than 9, and ideally it should run at this anyway. Just try to set the desired speed, and then adjust the vCore until it's stable, begin with maybe 1,32v, and notch it up one increment at the time. And run two instances of prime95 with the affinity set, to check if it's stable. :) Good luck, mate. ;)

Latest update also has improved the Memory some what too. Now seem to of come to a wall anything higher between this and 1440 doesnt get past post and 1400 freezes at windows loading screen:rolleyes:.

I'm not familiar with the BIOS MSI runs on their boards, so you should try asking some of the other guys, but it should be called Power Management or something. Just try looking around in the BIOS and you should be able to find it (if it's not hidden). ;)

Or you could refer to the manual. :P

Only Vcore i can see is in the PC Health Status. There isn't an option for editing it. Maybe one of the other guys that runs MSI board will know.

Thanks for help so far :)

at stock it's 1.2, as shown in previous screen i'm on 1.3 @3.1 although just ran COD4 and it crashed out after 5 minutes....

Thought i would give a latest update, after waking up this morning it would appear pc had frozen after about half hour from me leaving it lastnight. Can anyone suggest possible reasons why i get frozen pc after half hour running @ 3.1 on 38-38-32-32 temps on idle?

Lunch Update... Crashed out and restarted at 3GHz. Reverted back to 2.4 until this evening see if it's still alive by the time i get home at 5:30!
