ViewSonic Has First Ipod Monitor

How is a nice computer monitor that you can directly link ur iPod too not cool? I think that's an awesome arse feature, plus it doubles as an integrated iPod dock too. Very 1337.

*sigh*, another pointless ipiod accessory furthering the sterotype that these things are toys, and making me feel less cool when im actually using mine to LISTEN TO MUSIC!!!

It's not just a monitor for ur iPod though, it's a straight up computer monitor too. It just happens to have a nifty extra feature :)

I have to agree with Frag on this one.

Thats a sweet feature for a monitor to have as it means less wires and docking stations but at the same time it causes a problem that people with ipods are going to be the only people intrested in this monitor so the target audience is small and after market value will drop aswell as I am sure no-one wants to buy a monitor with a big slot in that thye are never going to use. So its one of those that you either love or hate.

Thats my theory ;)

one thing you have to remember is that a large number of people have an ipod already and that number just grows every day.

Yeh, and you don't need to have your pc on to watch stuff, pretty good tbh.

since an ipod has such a small screen, storing movies in high resolution, ourely to watch on this monitor seems a waste of space

Isn't the content from iTunes near dvd quality? and maybe you need an 80gb iPod then :p.

As for charging, surely if you connected a powered usb hub between your pc and the monitor it would charge whether your pc was on or not?

and how would yo go about "ejecting" the ipod from the computer with the power off?

if you just plug an ipod out of your pc it f**ks it up and u loose all ur stuff and possibly risk loosing your ipod altogether lol

cheers.

Well if the powers off, the computers not accessing the hard drive, so you don't need to, but the power will still go to it. (You don't need to eject iPods from speaker docs, so why is this any different)?.

As for it messing up your stuff, is that iPod specific? cause I've never heard about it. I presume you mean like problems experience if you remove usb drives from computers? well thats only usually a problem if you're in the process of doing something like transferring a file, or have write caching enabled

1)possibly,never thought about it that way but i wouldnt have thought so as the ipod should think itself connected to usb and not a dock maybe.

2) yes that can happen(i did it),often easily remedied by formatting the ipod as a disk in windows(for ipod not booting up)

and an ipod has a constantly active connection with the pc afaik, which is why it needs to be ejected before removing the cable.

also, where abouts in kent do u live mate? hehe

cheers.

its a sweet idea but dont u have the videos on your computer already anyways? so why put it on the ipod and watch it on that monitor. when u could watch it on that monitor anyways without the ipod. so i dont see the need to have it.. but sweet idea!

Just to throw a cat amoungst the pigeons, Creative`s players are far superior.

:p

In what way? I've used both and found I prefer either in all honesty. Creative are just ipod clones

I agree. Love my Zen Micro. I laugh @ kids when they drop their iPods in the hallway and they go to turn it back on, only to find it wont :p.
