G'day Everyone,
Got an issue that I don't seem to be able to find a fix to it. I have a Gigabyte 670 OC and when I play BF3 Iam getting tearing in the game also if I scroll whilst online quickly I get it also, so I took my machine to a mates and we tried a different monitor to mine no joy, so we put a Asus 580 CUII and same issue, so hear are my thoughts my power supply is 4-5 years old could it be that it is not delivering enough or clean power to the graphics card or is it something else any help would be great as it's driving me insane.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

what is the refresh rate of monitor and what is the FPS? has the ASYNC/VSYNC
been messed with?

The refresh rate is 60hz and the other settings are default I don't mess with anything like that also it did it on two different brand and size monitors and two video cards, it has also done it on windows 7 and 8

usually video tearing is the GPU is exceeding your refresh rate of the monitor.
and the new cards now support auto sync to prevent tearing. older
cards would have to depend on user-input to regulate the settings. and
sometimes the settings change without settings, usually an update of
sort..

Ok checked my settings and my monitor is a 60hz monitor and is set at 60hz now when I go into Bf3 settings the video resolution is set to 1920x1080@59.94hz and you cannot change the value any higher to 60. I have the latest non beta nvidia driver but my 670 doesn't seem to auto sync properly to stop the tearing. Also my monitor is a Benq T2200HD and is recognised as such in windows.

I feel like one of the dumbest guys on the planet...... was talking to one of my clan members who hasn't been on for awhile last night, and mentioned my problem to him and he said...... "Did you turn on v-sync in the game?" So I turn on v-sync and guess what that's right no tearing, I never even thought of going there. And never seen the game look so good either, so can you tell who has a red face ATM?

Oops? ;)

As said before, if you allow the card to pump mroe frames than the monitor's refresh rate you will/may get screen tearing.

I prefer to use a frame limiter to prevent tearing rather than using vsync. I find vsync ruins my score in fps games for some reason.. maybe added input lag idk..

*DUP* well it happens.. some of the simplest things, but you had found
it out eventually. and it didnt cost you anything as well! good job!
next time you'll know about the ASYNC/VSYNC switch...
