VIA Technologies has announced support for the advanced SPI bus in all new VIA South Bridge chipsets. The implementation of SPI on VIA-based boards will enable even easier updating, debugging and reprogramming of BIOS, and at even lower cost, by attaching a flash programming module to the easy-to-use onboard connector, even when the computing device is powered down. Care to comment? Certainly an innovative move by VIA, care to comment? Feel free to do so below...

It`s definately kinky.

Is this, I wonder, going to completely do away with the methods some users use to make custom bios` ?

Monitor editing the bios file, changing the checksums, then flashing to test. - cos that seems a real pita to me.

Sounds very good for the system-back-breakers and oc`ers alike. lmao there will be some tears down the road! Depends if compatible eprom burners are made cheap and easily available I guess.

VIA has just been banging a crapload of awesome new stuff out recently. Kinda refreshing to see VIA taking charge and being innovative again.
