VelociRaptor vs Momentus XT

So which of VelociRaptor vs Momentus XT is better?

My use case is for CAD and graphics and video work as well as VMs and databases.

Which is going to perform better?

Some people say one and other the other.

Any ideas guys?

I have an OCZ PCIe SSD for OS etc - this is for storage and acccess.

And SSDs are pretty small in storage capacity in comparison to the above two.

But those drives are pretty loud and due to the 10000rpm not as reliable as some ssd's IMO

the Momentus XT is not 10000 it's 7200 but it has a SSD cache in it to make it a lot faster than a normal 7200 RPM. So this will be considerably less loud but I'm not sure about performance I'll have a look now.

EDIT: Watch this it compares the two. You can skip the first 2 minutes though but make sure to watch till the end

I'd just get a proper hard drive and use the SSD tbh.

For me - you either get the speed of SSD, or the storage of hard drives - no inbetween.

By proper HD - I presume you mean something like a Caviar Black?

NB: I already have an OCZ PCIe SSD for Boot and OS etc - So these are additional application and storage disks

Well I have a number of games installed on my Caviar Black and the loading times are very good indeed. So if you're running low on SSD space you can always install games on the Black :D
