Vaping

Have you seen the studies that are coming out now saying that vaping is worse than tobacco?

The burning process is putting out formaldehyde as a byproduct. Making it much more carcinogenic than smoking tobacco.

Yep but they'll come up with an excuse and say it's not as bad or it's only on the cheap drug inhalers.

That was a test done to make those results, it was debunked very shortly after being put up

That was found to be done at an unrealistic level of burning.
From the study paper I read on it:
There is no serious concern about the contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (formaldehyde,
acrolein, etc.) in the liquid or produced by heating. While these contaminants are present, they have been
detected at problematic levels only in a few studies that apparently were based on unrealistic levels of heating.
This was taken from a study done by Drexel University in Philly.

Where is your proof then?
Its not 100% safe, no one is saying that but it is quite a bit safer then smoking.

I don't even smoke but the amount of crap people blurt out (no offence meant) about things like these always bothers me.

it bothers me too mate, i've had people in the streets and sometimes the pub (i always vape outside, it's just common courtesy) giving me grief over it....

I vape also, when i use to smoke cigarettes i would only smoke in my garage and even though the wife said i can vape anywhere in the house i still only go in the garage

The aspire atlantis and the aspire battery would be perfect for you mate

seeing as you live in north london there are a few really good vaping shops, if wembley isn't to far for you have a look in at the "uk ecig store"

tripp's right The aspire atlantis and the aspire battery would be perfect for you but, make sure you get good juice that no more than 70vg/30pg

Ok so I've been googling/youtubeing the atlantis but I'm really confused on a few things :/

The way I understand it the product is made for e-cig liquid... currently I'm used to what people online refer to as ''dry-herb''. Does the product work with dry-herb or would I need to find a way to get ''concentrates''?

Hello fellow Vapee's

Been vaping for a few years now and the only side effect has been my wallet.....

After buying the unicorn that is the Ubertoot-I found my Nirvana vape. Still use my KFL+ now and then.
Bought (spent) so much on gear it really made no financial sense for me to quit....lol.:D

I am waiting for my Geekvape Tsunami and 20m of NI200 wire to be delivered, sick of tanks leaking and also I want to try the Temp Control.

Need to get some new batteries now as the 6 I have, have dropped in capacity by about 40% so need some new ones.

Tempted though at some point to try a Mech Mod but need to look in to it abit more.

Just out of curiosity is there any vapers/cloudchasers here?

I have a pen thing i use to help me stop smoking, "actually 4 of them and 2 are always on charge" i think its a bit stupid to use the things as a fashion statement, Although i guess no one would ever start smoking cigarettes if it wasnt the same "wow thats cool" kind of thought some people seem to have.

any way your supposed to start off at (well i did) 24mg nicotine liquid, then drop to 18.. then 12. 6, 2.. and 0 then that's it you stop using the pen thing..

you aren't supposed to just start vaping just to blow smoke clouds...
if you want to blow smoke clouds and its not to help you stop smoking wouldn't a bottle of bubble solution be just as entertaining?

i also don't see why people spend up to £50 on the pen things to get a massive cloud of smoke, when you can spend £5 for a pen thing that delivers the nicotine perfectly effectively.

Ah that old chestnut.... As I agree with you whole heartedly..................I can't think of an answer witty enough to add any valued response.

But....nope, still got nothing.

Because some people just enjoy vaping? It's not smoke, BTW.

I've been vaping for over three years now and I enjoy it and all of the different flavours you can get. Right now I'm on sweet orange which is really nice.

I don't need to be told the health benefits I can feel and see them for myself. Every winter when I was smoking I used to get a terrible chest that would end up either as bronchitis or something else nasty (throat mouth and ear infections were common) and now I have not had a bad cough since I stopped. I can move around without losing my breath and let's just say that in the bedroom I can go for about five times longer than I used to without collapsing at the end.

I used to enjoy smoking, so I wanted to enjoy vaping.

Ehhh, I'm still on cigarettes. I heard about those health benefits before and I do believe they are true, but there are quite a few things I've read that still scare me about vaping. Not that my health would become any worse than it is from smoking your ol' cigarettes but fear of the unknown I guess.

It can't get any worse than cancer heart disease stroke and closing of the arteries.

What have you heard that scares you?

besides cauliflower lung?

It's popcorn lung and that has only been associated to diacetyl. Given that pretty much every one who vapes is against the use of it it's rare to find it in liquid. I've been vaping for around five years. I've been vaping only for over three years (like not had a cig since).

Before I gave up I was smoking around 30 rollups a day. It had begun to get to the point where I would wake up in the morning and not be able to breathe. If I tried to breathe in deeply I would start coughing, and my lungs could hardly take in any air. It used to scare the absolute crap out of me. Literally, I would be lying there sweating trying to breathe for sometimes up to an hour. Yet every time I tried to breathe in deeply I realised my lung capacity was actually crap, so I would just start coughing. IIRC I was about 39 at the time.

I also had huge problems with walking. The bedroom in the house we lived in was on an upper floor with no bathroom and I would have to go down the stairs, through the house and into the back of the house. By the time I got back my heart was pounding like mad and I would have to again try and catch my breath.

I reckon another ten years? I would have had emphysema. Or just as bad, COPD.

Since switching to vape solely (because it was a rocky road at first thanks to the unreliability of early Ecigs) my lung capacity is off the chart. I can walk for about a mile at a reasonable pace without getting out of breath or feel dizzy. Without going into too much information things have changed drastically in the bedroom too. I no longer feel like collapsing when I am done, for example. My blood pressure and heart rate have also decreased.

When I smoked I would get a cold every single year. And every year that cold would last about two weeks, then go to my chest. I would then either get a chest infection or bronchitis and end up being ill for about six weeks. Since switching to vape I have had two colds, and not a single cough. And both have lasted a few days to a week, then completely gone.

As for the money? I run three pretty high spec PCs. I go on holiday twice a year and I have nearly two bikes. Before? I had sod all. Vaping costs me about £7 a week. Before? I was spending over a tenner a day.

So there, there's a five year study from some one who actually vapes. I will never quit the vape either because I desperately need the nicotine due to my brain being crap at producing serotonin. I will forever be an addict.

However, I feel twenty years younger. I would rather die doing this than die smoking. At least I wouldn't be gasping for air. Always cracks me up now to see some one outside the A&E department with oxygen lines going up their nose having a cig. Talk about sado.

This is beautiful and a greatly confirms my 10 months of quit smoking cold turkey and never looking back.

I was not as bad as your situation, but it rapidly was approaching that point of having serious issues biking up a bridge slope and running out of puf almost instantly.

I had considered vaping, but given that everyone in the family are smokers, it would be to easy to have a switch over to normal cigarettes every now and then when i was over with them. its better this way!
