Vaping

This is beautiful and a greatly confirms my 10 months of quit smoking cold turkey and never looking back.

I was not as bad as your situation, but it rapidly was approaching that point of having serious issues biking up a bridge slope and running out of puf almost instantly.

I had considered vaping, but given that everyone in the family are smokers, it would be to easy to have a switch over to normal cigarettes every now and then when i was over with them. its better this way!

Yeah it's not nice tbh. I bet it's a horrible way to die. I wish I could pack in nicotine (because that is what I am addicted to, not smelling like an ash tray !) but it's practically impossible. It's like me saying I could pack in all of my meds I take for my head and saying I'd be better off. I wouldn't.

I can not believe I even use to take a cigarette anywhere near my mouth though. Seriously, it's absolutely honking. Today again I was reminded of how disgusting smoking is. I had to sit next to a woman who obviously smoked whilst waiting to see my shrink and she ******* STUNK. Literally it was like sitting with my nose pressed into an ash tray.

The last cig I smoked was over three years ago. My wife and I would have the odd one here and there usually at my mother's house (she's a party smoker and can smoke and stop as she wishes) and I had a menthol cig and felt like I was going to puke. I had to run upstairs and brush my teeth it was that disgusting. That was when I realised that I no longer wished to smoke a cig again ever.

Are there risks to vaping? probably. But as I said, given how dramatically my life has changed since then I would happily die from vaping rather than smoking. Sure there are scare stories and what not but I think doctors would not encourage you to do it if it was even as remotely as bad as smoking.

I'm not being funny, but picking holes in vaping whilst continuing to smoke is just crazy. How could it possibly be any worse?

It's popcorn lung and that has only been associated to diacetyl. Given that pretty much every one who vapes is against the use of it it's rare to find it in liquid. I've been vaping for around five years. I've been vaping only for over three years (like not had a cig since).

Before I gave up I was smoking around 30 rollups a day. It had begun to get to the point where I would wake up in the morning and not be able to breathe. If I tried to breathe in deeply I would start coughing, and my lungs could hardly take in any air. It used to scare the absolute crap out of me. Literally, I would be lying there sweating trying to breathe for sometimes up to an hour. Yet every time I tried to breathe in deeply I realised my lung capacity was actually crap, so I would just start coughing. IIRC I was about 39 at the time.

I also had huge problems with walking. The bedroom in the house we lived in was on an upper floor with no bathroom and I would have to go down the stairs, through the house and into the back of the house. By the time I got back my heart was pounding like mad and I would have to again try and catch my breath.

I reckon another ten years? I would have had emphysema. Or just as bad, COPD.

Since switching to vape solely (because it was a rocky road at first thanks to the unreliability of early Ecigs) my lung capacity is off the chart. I can walk for about a mile at a reasonable pace without getting out of breath or feel dizzy. Without going into too much information things have changed drastically in the bedroom too. I no longer feel like collapsing when I am done, for example. My blood pressure and heart rate have also decreased.

When I smoked I would get a cold every single year. And every year that cold would last about two weeks, then go to my chest. I would then either get a chest infection or bronchitis and end up being ill for about six weeks. Since switching to vape I have had two colds, and not a single cough. And both have lasted a few days to a week, then completely gone.

As for the money? I run three pretty high spec PCs. I go on holiday twice a year and I have nearly two bikes. Before? I had sod all. Vaping costs me about £7 a week. Before? I was spending over a tenner a day.

So there, there's a five year study from some one who actually vapes. I will never quit the vape either because I desperately need the nicotine due to my brain being crap at producing serotonin. I will forever be an addict.

However, I feel twenty years younger. I would rather die doing this than die smoking. At least I wouldn't be gasping for air. Always cracks me up now to see some one outside the A&E department with oxygen lines going up their nose having a cig. Talk about sado.

Pretty much all of this.
I was a 15 year smoker and at the end was on 40 a day. I've been vaping for about 4 years. Started off on an eGo "pen" style with 24mg liquid, went through the whole mechanical mod "cloudchasing" phase now happily vaping on a regulated mod with a RTA.

I used to be out of breath if I walked up the stairs, constant colds and chest infections etc. Now I'm still not the picture of health due to a sedentary life the past 3.5 years (caring for my mother after a stroke, incidentally, she was a heavy smoker) but since knocking cigs on the head I feel magnitudes better.

That's good to hear man. Most of the people I see vaping are not even ex smokers. They do it just to look cool (Youtube etc). Nobody really talks about their experiences coming off cigs onto vape either, they just tend to talk about the vaping.

Before we got together my wife had a stroke. Hemorrhagic. It nearly killed her. Yet still we both continued to smoke. Then she just said one day "Please I want to stop smoking" an that was it.

Both of my grandparents were heavy smokers. Roll ups.. They would both sit there all day rolling and smoking. Luckily for them they both made it to their 70s, yet both of them died of strokes. I sometimes wonder had they packed it in years before they did (they both quit about seven years before they died) if they would have been around longer.

Not that being around longer is every one's cup of tea, mind, but yeah I would rather die of lots of things but gasping for air until your brain doesn't get enough oxygen any more really isn't one of them.

IIRC I am on 18mg. I used to be on 24 before they banned it. No doubt at some point soon I will drop it. I do find myself vaping less as time progresses really. My wife is down to 8? or 9? something like that.

My grandfather was a heavy roll-up smoker too, seeing him go really hit hard because he was the only positive male role model I've had.
I started on 24mg as well in the eGo, but I was still smoking 20 a day. When I bought the mechanical mod and RDA I was cloudchasing with 6mg and used that to gradually lower the number of cigs I was smoking.

Now I just use a Kayfun RTA with 10-12mg or occasionally I'll use a sub-ohm tank with 3mg when I fancy a change of flavour for an hour.
I think the highest strength you can buy now is 20mg, not that it affects me since I mix my own eliquid.

Switching to a dripper really helped me with the larger hits of nicotine, but with the direct lung inhale it really doesn't replace the sensation of smoking. Now I've not been perfect and I've had the odd cig, when drinking or at a festival when my batteries died, but every time my chest has immediately felt heavy and I've regretted it.

I do know people that vape that have never smoked but that doesn't make sense to me. Obviously vaping is safer than smoking, but not vaping is surely safer still since you're not introducing additional foreign substances to your lungs. One of the people I know does it because he's overweight and vapes 0mg liquid instead of eating sweets.

Personally I think the growth of "cloudchasing" and "vape tricks" videos has had a negative effect on vaping, making it look cool rather than as a necessary smoking cessation tool.

Bump, and letting Lucy know we have a thread :)

Lucy, in reply to your post - yeah, they are pretty expensive. About £25 shipped 0%. I buy 72mg from Ebay or what not and shoot in 20ml giving me about 18mg. I am going to try dropping that soon, though. What helps is using the old style Kanger single coils. They are like £8 for 10. I have four Aerotanks (thanks to my ex wife, I found a stash after she had gone) and two Genitank Mega (dual coil). Obviously what I like is that they hold a s**t load of liquid and you can't buy them any more. So I look after them well.

I've got loads of "mods" too. Two Knight mods (carbon shell with brass ends) and a couple of others. I have an Itaste VTR (was £70 !) that takes 18350s, a Totally Wicked I use for travelling (because it's small and light) and a Cool Fire Iv plus. Also have an Isub tank (dual modern coil, very heavy burner) and an Innokin that uses coils that look like tampons lol.

Few chargers etc. I have been vaping for six years now almost.

So we do have a thread!
You've certainly got quite a lot of gear! Do you vape at 18mg all the time? I use 3mg for my everyday with a mech and rda but use 20mg salt liquids in a little pod system for when I'm out at the pub or something.

Yeah 20mg all the time. I used to be on 24 but dropped it once. I really need to drop it again, though tbh I do enjoy vaping so much I might just stick to what I know.

I just gave a friend 8 twister batteries and two Vamo V5. It's incredible how much vaping gear my ex wife bought and never even used.

That is what I am on ATM, and some cheap vape avenue crap I use for when I get vaper's tongue*

* basically some dude did this scientific experiment and concluded that if you vape the same flavour for a prolonged length of time your taste buds say "eff off, I am sick of that" and stop sending the taste to your brain. So you basically can't taste anything but the coil burning. It's not pleasant either tbh. So I have two fags ready and charged and if I stop getting a nice flavour hit I switch to the other one for a few days, or, just vape half and half.

I have a vaporesso switcher with a tfv 12 prince with a 5ml glass upgrade as my main, a Coldfire iv as my sitting at the pc. I started at 18mg these days I'm down to 6mg I have a taste for Zeus juice The black or coffee

some nice headphones you got there dude :)

That's about half of them. Thankfully that obsession ended after about a year, so I "only" have about 25 pairs lol. That said I do use them, every single pair (Apart from the red counterfeit beats because the head band on them snaps) They are a bit crap too tbh I bought them when skint. The black Power Beats are my SPL headphones. I wire them to a pre and power headphone amp and basically sit there blowing out my eardrums.

I have been vaping for 3/4 years although, I had the occasional cigarette along the way and about 20 when my granddaughter died at Christmas other than that I have been really good.
I was on max nicotine with the pre-made juice but started making my own since September, I have no idea on the strength nicotine now but its probably about 3mg.

Sadly my wife and son both smoke in the house which I really hate but hey ho im hanging on in

I have a couple small devices but tend to use my Smok all the time but need coils now

I use my Grados the most (RS2E). They are amazing. For clarity and soundstage I have not heard anything even remotely close. Mind you, they cost a fortune. All hand made though.

For dance music, beat driven music and ETC I use a pair of Hifiman HE400S planar magnetic. Because you can drive them to ear splitting levels without them distorting etc.

For bass and SPL (I used to compete many years ago so I've always been a bit of a bass head) I use the Powerbeats. Seriously they drop so much pressure it hurts lol.

I use the B&O H6 for gaming when I am not home. Mostly because the others are open back. The Grados sound like a set of speakers FFS.

I have some pink beats studio with noise cancelling. I use them when I am out. They are very loud and easy to drive up loud enough to basically cancel out any noise and so on. The yellow B&O are pathetic, but, I do use them for listening to the football and etc. They aren't very loud but they are very light and you don't even know they are on.

So yeah, those are all of the main ones I use a lot. I have a few other pairs and gaming headsets etc. I use the gaming headset for surround (just got that as it goes) and a couple of pairs for testing (I build my own valve amps too, 99% done on the MK2 but the feet need cutting around to fit properly.

I've got 6 headphone amps too lol. Four of them get regular use. One is going to my mother's house as I do like my sound punchy and well driven.

nic strength really depends on how much power you're using too. What sort of wattage do you use the TFV12 at? because if I use 6mg the way I vape it just knocks my head off

Here's my collection. I've got a few other beater mods floating about but these are my babies that live in a cabinet :)

Also have a load of RDAs but all I really use at the moment is Goons and the CSMNT

Normally at 60w going higher makes me fill ill after a couple of vapes, so I could probably drop to 3mg but I run the Coldfire at 40W
I keep considering going Nic free to see if I can ween off that part, maybe give up completely or just go 0mg
