Hey guys, I was wondering if this could be used in any way to turn on my computer?!?!

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ITAG=FAQ&ModuleNo=2538&doy=28m5#faq

This is some of the information on the product which has been asked:

Q) Can this be used to turn on/off electrical equipment - bob

A) no, contact rating is 24dc.

Q) Is a decoder included in package as I am having trouble locating a 3x4 matrix keypad decoder? - Jacob Lovatt

A) No the output is based on a marix and multi point connector

Q) Which columns and rows corispond to which holes? - Andy

A) Please download the PDF file on the line showing stock and price, this gives complete data on the Keypad.

I know absolute nothing about electronice, so i need your help.

i want to use it so i can turn my computer on using a 4 digit code. Is this possible?!?!

Cheers once again guys. :D

You need an entire circuit to use that to do anything worth while. I made a safe like thing using one in my GCSE years.

I left all the work at school...

Rapid electronics do the diagrams iirc.

Pay you to do it for me?!? ;)

and you wouldnt be able to use it as a reset method unless your circuit was complex enough to allow for different codes.

And i would think the novelty would wear off when overclocking. If you want security go for an ignition switch
