I keep losing sound in my USB headset while gaming. Some games I'm able to unplug/replug the dongle to get it to work again, but others I have to completely exit the game to get it working again. This is the case with using Ventrilo while gaming as well. If I test the headset using the sound icon the headset is still working. I never have sound issues while using my speaker system hooked to my onboard sound. I never had these issues when I used a headset that plugged into my onboard sound. It seems that something is interupting the usb or maybe when my processor gets heavily taxed, my mobo momentarily shut's down the hub.
I have the latest updates for Vista, optimized for performance & have everything shut off I don't need. My mobo drivers as well as all my drivers have the latest updates. I have tried disabling the onboard sound that I use from my mobo. I've tried several different configurations, different usb hubs, but nothing helps. I've contacted Logitech as well as Steam & didn't get any answers. I have an old sound card I could install, a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, but I'm sure it won't help.
It seems to me the only way to fix the problem would be if I could route the headset through my onboard sound or a sound card, but none of the sound cards I've seen have a USB inlet. Anyone have suggestions?
