USB Beverage Chiller

Considering peltiers are not good at pulling heat thru a medium, a radiator has fins so the contact area must be crap, 3-6C would be a huge drop.

I don't see it happening. Plus you can't get below ambient on water (exception to evpaorative cooling) so if the TEC pulled the water below ambient, the radiator (or rest of it) would HEAT the water back up.

i never said it went below ambient.... if it did i would have a condensation problem.. it gets it very quite near ambient though.

sorry for putting pics up so slowly, im always busy. school, work and friends so

pelt cracked.. gonna get another one..

its pushed right under the rad where the water sits, the rad sits up right and takes 8 and 1/2 5.25 bays. other two are for the power switch/floppy and 2nd one is for a Plextor DVD burner. so i literally gotta wedge the sink with the pelt under the rad(hence why it broke) but theres good contact.

So what are you measuring the temperature with, what temps the cold side and hot side of the peltier, and water temps before and after please.

like i said before pelt is @ 5C, with stock heatsink and using a small DC fan to push the hot air out. W/O pelt 33-34 Idle 39-41 Load. W/Pelt 28-30 Idle 36-38 Load. oh yea using MBM5. next time gonna sand the sink with some 50 grit sand paper to shrink it a lil

Eh not so much, the entire concept of pelt chilling is not being done any where near efficienctly (probably getting less than 2-3% efficiency out of using that pelt)

The key to peltier chillers is not to aim for something with low power consumption, but instead small and compact. High surface area with almost every possible bit of water touching metal. Then many peltiers, maybe eight to twelve 320watt peltier being run at much lower powers for higher efficiency. Then if the hot sides are properly cooled you can see very good results from a peltier chiller. Simply chilling a flat peice of metal that happens to touch minimal water isn't going to help.

Right, Do you have water cooling? :p

I have dreamed about getting it and im uber intrested, but I have no money! :(

WoOt

Ill get it one day!
