i think i have a slight problem :p

anyone any good at gibberish?

or more helpfully, how to fix it?

lol

i *think* i will need to flash my bios, but i dont have a floppy drive, or disks...

unless anyone has any better ideas...

EDIT: thing's i've tried:

- graphics card in pci-e 1 and 2 slots

- different sticks of ram, some i know work perfectly, others were new so...

- clearing cmos

- taking bios battery out for half an hour

- trying different hard drive arrangements

any ideas? :(

Definitely gonna have to flash, and hope that its not a hardware fault.

It's always handy to have a floppy drive lying about and they're only a fiver.

Sorry can't be more help

/interuption

I saw the BACS thing at the top and thought u`d gotten into a terminal or something.

/end of

If the pc runs ok with this, it may be just a part of the bios that`s corrupted due to some power situation.

Odd thing is, I wouldn`t advise u to flash the bios unless u`ve found out what the problem is/was. If the problem still exists whilst u flash, u could make the mobo a doormat.

it did boot up fine, but it doesnt anymore....

how do i flash the bios when the only computers i have at my disposal are ubuntu ones....

any sugestions people?

its second hand...lol...

so thats outa the question..

if you have a 1 gig usb memory stick . you can google how to make it bootable and flash from there

my friend, try this first.

turn off the power to ur pc, press and hold down power button for 20 secs, then take out BIOS battery and do the same thing.

then try to reset the BIOS.

try it - might work, might not.

didnt work :(

time to google how to make a bootable usb stick in ubuntu....

oh joy :(

i doubt thats going to be an easy task as most flash tools run using dos. You may get lucky thought.

Might be easier to go round a mates house with windows and use his pc.

EDIT: i did infact mean windows the os, not the ones you look through! :p

fortunatly i got my hands on a xp pc....

i put award flash.exe on the usb stick

and the bios file....bin or somthing...

but when i set it to boot from any of the 5 boot options (i dunno which is which) it just tries to boot from hard drive...

so i removed the hard drive SATA cable

now it just says insert system disk and press enter

any ideas anyone? :(

its not as simple as that, you need to make the usb stick bootable. I think there was a HP app that made your usb bootable. I'll have a google.

i'll be back, muahahah

edit: give http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/serveroptions/us/download/23839.html a try!
