well was thinking of upgrading my video card any recommendations .

I like playing computer games so with that said currently using a Nvidia GTX 260

whats your budget fella? knowing you have a i7 rig im thinking your budget is heading towards the £200+ mark??

Had not even consider budget i have little money saved up so based on knowing most good cards are over $400 so wanting the best card .

Have always been fan of nivida but hears rummers ati bets them so just thought i throw that out there.

thing is....

its really not the best time to decide on a video card upgrade, this is just my personal thought as the gt300 cards could land down in 4 weeks or 3 months :(

knowing the specs of gt300 cards there defo going to compete with ati cards

so if you can hold on as the gtx 260 is defo not a slow card and can manage any game to date. then you will have a much larger choice and the price's should settle down :D

Yep Gosthuds advice is pretty sound... if you dont want the newest gen card wait till retailers sell off old stock just before the fermi release and you should save yourself a few quid/dollars...

Waiting is the game for graphics cards atm, as everyone else pointed out. Yes the ATI cards are good, but they still get beaten by some nvidia 200 series. Mainly the 295 and 285. I'm assuming the 300 series will be even better by quite a margin, so it's worth waiting.

Unfortunate thing is that we're in limbo at the moment. We have no idea if gf100/gt300 is weeks or months away. So the question here is exactly what ur budget is.

Being interested in $400 or more, even if u get a 5870 (u gotta find one also), their prices are hyper-inflated atm, and there are signs of 5970 being sooner than possibly the gf100/gt300. When it comes out, the prices may relax again.

Something is really going on the card manufacturing side of things for all gpu providers. There is an unholy lack of stocks everywhere - if ur an advocate of choice. Sure u can find 'a' card, higher price than normal, perhaps not the manufacturer u want tho.

I don't swallow the yield stories people are making up tbh. Something else is going on that we're not aware of. I favor a contractual dispute behind closed doors, possibly involving TSMC, but wholey not down to any production problems. They're making smaller integration cpus for other companies without issue.

People will however say u can w8 forever in the pc game.
