Upgrade time or not?

Hi all,
I have a dilemma, or at least I think I have and I could use some advice. I think it has come time to upgrade my main PC. I mainly use it for Photoshop/ Sony Vegas and gaming but, it is also used as a music and movies hub for the other PC's and tablet devices in the house. Over the last year I have also been using it to back up my DVD and Blu ray library to HDD's for use with plex and it just seems to be a slower and slower process which has got me thinking, is it upgrade time?

Here are my current specs:
Intel i5 2500k @ 4.4mhz
Asrock Z77 Extreme4
16gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz
MSI R7950 TFIII 3GB OC Boost Edition
Corsair TX750 v2 PSU
Corsair H80i (Push Pull)
2 x Samsung 840 Evo SSD's 120gb
4 x WD Red 2tb HDD's
Soundblaster ZX
NZXT H440 (AKA The Quiet Oven)

I have no real future thoughts other than that I am not really interested in 4K but I will be interested in the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift (Which ever turns out best).
So, What do you think, is it worth it yet or should I hold out?

Well as far as my knowledge goes, I have the i7 2600K and have had it since late 2012, and it's still rocking ass.
I don't think it should be any problem to be honest, probably is something funky going on with your PC... the other guys knows their stuff and will help you any way they can.

I just think it would be odd if it would be going lol, since mine is going strong... CPU wise, that is.

If you're using plex to stream data to multiple places concurrently then your network speed could be limiting you when streaming multiple devices. Your PC isn't slow and can easily handle the streaming tasks. Don't think you need an upgrade.. unless of course i'm wrong and you have blazing fast network speeds. Then the issue would lie somewhere else.

Also no point in upgrading for VR/AR at all yet. I read an article today by Valve and they even stated nothing currently can push out enough pixels fast enough and quickly enough(latency) with a certain amount of very high res textures/polygons with 4xmsaa at a rate of 90fps(45 for each eye they say is minimum). Can't remember the number but they said they need enough power to put out 457 million or so shaded pixels/second when 1080p can currently only put out 124 million shaded visible pixels/second.. it'll be a few years

and if you want to read more from the source go ahead.

I have no problem with the streaming, my network is mostly wifi tablets or phones with 2 other wired PC's. Plex has been great, even better than I expected it to be. My main problem seems to be the conversion of the videos from blu ray to mp4. I know some discs have more data than others therefore take longer, but the whole conversion process just seems to be running slower than ever and it is winding me up!!! I didn't want to do it, but I might try a fresh OS instal to see if that helps.

I hope they get their acts together on the VR front, I am really looking forward to what is coming but I am going to, well try to hold myself back and see what is offered in the first consumer models. Thanks for the link.
