Upgrade Motherboard game crash (and psu)

Hi

I am looking to upgrade some of my PC as it crashes whenever i try and play pretty much anything(fallout 3, aoe3, anno 1404,grid,crysis). it does seem to work ok on mount and blade though.

Firstly i have

ASUS M3N-HD motherboard does anyone know of anything to do with crashing in sleep mode on this board using vista 64 premium

2 samsung 1tb f1 hdds striped, raid 0

nvidia gtx 295

amd phenom ii x4 940

2x 2gb ocz reaper

i think i've alos got an ocz power supply 700w, which is probably the loudest psu i've ever had.

i'm thinking that the motherboard is creating most of my problems, games just freeze and i have to restart using button on the pc. i don't know why i think this i just can't see it being anything else apart from one of my hdds having this raid error(my stuff is backed up). i get the raid error about once a week when not playing but after 5 mins if i am. does it sound likely to be this.

i'd prefferably get something reasonably priced ie less than £150 on the motherboard and £120 on the psu providing its outrageously quiet.

hope someone can help

hmmm it could be ur HDD's,have you got any overclocks?

what are your temps for ur CPU and GPU

also if you are in the market for a motherboard these are my suggestions

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus...0(x16)-DDR2-1200(OC)-SATA-3Gb-s-SATA-RAID-ATX

and PUS wise, this one will be ur best bet fella not quite sure how loud it is but i doubt its that loud

if you decide on one of them motherboards then you could spend the extra cash and get a enermax PSU i know they are quiter than normal, and they are top end performers aswell.

hope this helps fella

Cheers for that,

the motherboards seem to be a direct upgrade from the one i'm currently using, would i need to keep to the same brand? i was hoping to move away from the one i'm using.

for the psu £180 is a bit much, the corsair psu seems to get great reviews do you have one? if so how old is it and has it got much louder than when first used? mine was almost easily quiet enough for a few months but has got louder and louder. i'd just hate to pay that much for it only to be good for six months.

i don't think i've got any temperature monitors on the pc, it shouldn't be that hot though as it is generally turned off nowadays due to the noise

To quieten powersupplies down, give them a good blast of compressed air, as the dust buildup typically coats the heatsinks and fan blades, making the fan work a lot harder. The corsair is very quiet, I've had a 750 version installed in a pc for about 6 months and that's very quiet still. Doesn't really spin up under normal load (which in that PC is pretty light).

nah you wouldent need to but they are the decent NFORCE boards so if you wanna SLi in the future you can,the corsair PSU are flawless fella i dont have one no but i have heard no bad things about the loudness

i chose that PSU at 180 as you said u wanted to spend 150 on a new mobo,as the ones i have linked you are cheaper u could add the extra cash and get that PSU,as that will be quiter and is slightly better than the corsair
