Have a look at the Dirt series or Assetto Corsa, GRID is ok for an arcade style game

The First GRID is the best in the series. best arcade drifter as well imo. You can pick up most of the dirt series very cheaply if you know where to look.

Whoa! Are those NOS buttons like the ones in Fast n Furious

The AI even on Easy at 88% strength is a decent challenge to win...at least for my skills on a keyboard :(

Alright folks I ordered this :D

Hopefully will be here in a few days so I can try my luck at some racing fun. Thanks for the recommendation.. assuming this is the one you meant, MrKambo, but it is a Thrustmaster Ferrari in the right price range!

Can't wait!

Yeah thats the one, did you get Assetto Corsa as well, or planing on getting another game?

Haven't bought a game yet, is that the one everyone is raving about atm? £29.99 for an early access game though.. damn that's steep. Is it worth it?

Im not promoting my youtube channel or anything like that so dont punch me Tom/Sub mods :p

http://www.youtube.com/user/MrK4mbo/videos

have a look at my gameplay videos, a few of us on here have got this, i cant remember whether Tom said he got it as well, but its probably the best thing out there, except for Project Cars, which is closed beta now.
its worth the money if you're willing to tag along with the development stages, if you dont want to, then get a hold of dirt/grid

My Thrustmaster arrived, so I took the plunge and bought Assetto Corsa. What a game. Fantastic for early access. And they have Lotuses. Some of my favourite cars :) Good stuff.

Wheel is great too, thanks for the recommendation. Very sturdy for the price.

Are there any driving games out that let you just explore, I use to love Test Drive Unlimited, Anything like that exist or is it all track based ?

Burnout Paradise is like that but it's still hammering you to race and do challenges and stuff. Nothing really has a "free drive" quite right at the moment, really.

what a rubbish game. never uninstalled a game quicker than that.

F1 is hard!! im not even joking i tried for weeks to play that and i just gave up, some games cant be played on desk mounted wheel and a office chair

Anyone else having issues with AC?

I havn't played it in a while but fired it up there yesterday when I got back from my trip and I am having issues with two things one is my wheel is never auto recognised and I have to rebind it every single time I launch the game where as I didn't need to do that before which is annoying.

The other issue is I have no grip at all. Like for eg I used to be able to take the corner leading onto the wellington straight at silverstone flat out in a 458 now I have to lift because of unbelievable understeer. The other issue with grip is if I press my brake pedal fully the car seems to sqweerm (sp) under braking like crazy and upsets the balance really badly for the corner. Conversely if I brake just a little bit lighter I don't stop in time for the corner. I think it may be a wheel setup issue but I feel there is almost no grip at times. Anyone feel this?

Oh and why are there no good modifying car games out anymore? Like one where you buy a POS and make it good until you can afford a better car. The weird thing is I started playing street legal racing redline again with some mods and I am loving the customizing part. I wish car games would do that sort of thing again.

I've always thought the 458 had rubbish grip and suffered from understeer anyways, but I know in the last update they remodeled all the tires and changed some of the grip settings!

I think you need to make sure your wheel is working right and check the brake gamma settings might help you sort your brake issues, also check with another car if you're getting the same issues might be a game thing, I'll pull my wheel out in the morning and see if i have any problems

Ps need for speed underground, best modifying car game EVER!! I would pay £1000 if they remade it with HD graphics and a map which is 5 times the size, and a R33 skyline

I did too but no where near as bad as what I have. It feels like there is nothing there at all.

Since my last post I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and that seems to have sorted it. My wheel settings were picked up straight away and the 458 seems to be a bit better. Tried the 599XX and that feels really nice compared to what it was before. Before all cars felt like they had no front grip and 1000hp. You had to be so gentle it was annoying. One of the updates must have corrupted something.

Agreed for the time but that game had some terrible mods especially the visuals. God what were we thinking back then ha. Id like to see a modern version of it though with real parts instead of made up ones so I can have my dream RX-7 :) 20b PP 10k rev limit hehe

Cant remember whether it was Shaun or someone else said they made a HD texture pack, but i cant find anywhere to buy the game as a digital download

So what settings are you guys running AC at?

1080p
anisotropic filtering - 4x
AA - 2x
shadow resolution - high
world detail - maximum
motion blur - off
fov - 70
cubemap resolution - high
faces per frame - 3

this gives me a comfortable ~100fps. with everything maxed out i am around 50-ish, but even the slightest dip under 60 feels like a punch in the face.
