I got the Swiftech MCW-50T sorted today! :)

I have already had it in pieces and fitted the 172W peltier - this should be interesting :D

looks amazing so far mate...

the thing that worries me is the neatness tho ;) all those cables ... tut tut :p

but the mod work is functional and well engineered - true overclocker style :D

It's on a slight hold - I'm working on the fan project first! :)

Need some more funds to come in before I get back on this, the beastly 24V PSU was powered up and...

Yes, a fireworks display, with sparks and smoke! :O

So, I'm now on the look out for a replacement :(

You blew the beast PSU up?? What happened? I'm still in the contemplation stage of my rig. I have a few things up my sleeve but they would only work with a pelt rig. Oh the choices!!

Hope you get this sorted matey.

Boardy

That looks great mate and some sweet clocks really can't wait till i get my dothan related stuff soon. What chip are you using?

EDIT: Ah just reread your first post, so is this the 750 or 770 that your using? I've only got a 730 coming but hoping for over 3ghz

Wow, not good, sorry to hear about that, did you get any pretty colours as it went? When i last blew a PSU there were some nice green flashes! Any idea what happened?

I hope you can back on this soon, but balancing projects is very difficult!

G

Ja, was lots of coloured flashes and smoke! :O

All I did was plug it in! I must have been bought as faulty, although it was spose to be fully functioning :(

Meh, I don't even know if the company still exists! (Adavance PSU)

It is probably quite old, from the components used...

Good, and Bad news...

Good news is I have a replacement PSU which is basically the same as the other beastly one (which blew up!), but this one definitely works - I have tested it :)

Bad news is when I returned to uni, the system won't BOOT, I have narrowed it down, and believe the motherboard is dead :(

This has taken longer than I anticipated, and the time is about right for me to upgrade - I will ultilise the current cooling and case - and just use higher spec components...

I'm currently thinking Opty, or FX55. Still need to do some research into the cards and motherboards available though but hope to order them very soon - any advice appreciated I have started an AMD/ Nvidia thread in the Mobo section :)

I now have a system on the bench running at 3GHz. This is the spec going into the stacker:

DFi NF4 SLi-DR

AMD Opteron 148 (@3GHz on air)

1024MB (2 x 512MB) BH-5 Memory

7800GTX 256MB (not clocked, yet!)

PCP&Cooling 510 Deluxe SLi

I have the following peltier setup ready to go be plugged in place:

Swiftech MCW-50Tfx 172W @ 24V (powered by 24V Beast)

Swiftech MCW-502-64T 320W @ 15V (on 12V 2nd PCP&C 510D)

These are all under the PA120.3, AQz50 loop.

I'm a little worried about the power of these peltiers, as I have never run any at such high spec/ power - it'll be interesting whatever happens! :B

Um, I think I have the coldbug :(

I'm running without the peltier and temps are around 30 and no problems, but when I stick the peltier on it locks up :(

I don't have any accurate temps - only what the mobo has to say, which is around 5 degrees C ish...

Would this be the cold bug? As it seems to run fine when the peltier is off! 8)

If it is, what should I do? Does the X2 suffer from cold bug?

Whats the status dude? i just had a new brew and read back over all of this...hope my project goes okay, though i've spotted a flaw already in mine. One i already corrected and now one more AGHHHHHHHHHHHH

The status at the moment is the DFI is not booting into Windows with the 7800. I have been on DFI forums, and it looks as if I'll have to do a re-format next. 8)

Got to get myself mentally ready first - I'll probably have a crack at it on Sunday...

Did you do a reinstall? Want so see som results now. You didn´t keep the Dothan so now let see what the Opteron can do. To bad you didn´t max out your Dothan, it´s the best processor out there for SuperPi. Opteron don´t stand chance against a Dothan in SuperPi.

The little 770 hasn't left me yet ;)

I did a re-install and all is working fine :), Got just over 30,000 3DMark03 points stock. I am going to have a play now and see how far I can tweak it :D
