Good, and Bad news...
Good news is I have a replacement PSU which is basically the same as the other beastly one (which blew up!), but this one definitely works - I have tested it
Bad news is when I returned to uni, the system won't BOOT, I have narrowed it down, and believe the motherboard is dead
This has taken longer than I anticipated, and the time is about right for me to upgrade - I will ultilise the current cooling and case - and just use higher spec components...
I'm currently thinking Opty, or FX55. Still need to do some research into the cards and motherboards available though but hope to order them very soon - any advice appreciated I have started an AMD/ Nvidia thread in the Mobo section
I now have a system on the bench running at 3GHz. This is the spec going into the stacker:
DFi NF4 SLi-DR
AMD Opteron 148 (@3GHz on air)
1024MB (2 x 512MB) BH-5 Memory
7800GTX 256MB (not clocked, yet!)
PCP&Cooling 510 Deluxe SLi
I have the following peltier setup ready to go be plugged in place:
Swiftech MCW-50Tfx 172W @ 24V (powered by 24V Beast)
Swiftech MCW-502-64T 320W @ 15V (on 12V 2nd PCP&C 510D)
These are all under the PA120.3, AQz50 loop.
I'm a little worried about the power of these peltiers, as I have never run any at such high spec/ power - it'll be interesting whatever happens! :B
Um, I think I have the coldbug
I'm running without the peltier and temps are around 30 and no problems, but when I stick the peltier on it locks up
