If you will be nice to me, i might even give you my staff discount (work there obviously) (10%) ;) :p

edit: myself i would recommend going for sammys they are one of the best if not the best LCD HDTV manufacturers. unlike others they make every part by themselves meaning excellent quality.

lmao I`d never had thought to look there. I go past a pcworld fairly regularly too.

Different model, but worth walking into the store - I`ll wear dark glasses or something :p

I'm going keep an eye on this thread as I've got the same budget and the same size requirement...

Keep the suggestions coming please :)

Ok, b4 we all get tired of this quest for a freakin TV, I`ve fallen for the Samsung LE32R87BD. Read a load of reviews like a gamer buying a gfx card tbh. *appologies for those who are losing the will to live*

It`s got a few minor floors. The panel is a high glossed black plastic which scratches easy - no big deal as I can`t remember the last time I even touched my 28" apart from initially plugging stuff in. (yes yes there`s dust).

It`s a big improvement on a "lack luster" LE327x.. series, where Samsung have aparantly "listened to the customers" - so that dismisses the 7 series when the 8 is available, imo.

The sound quality isn`t the best - bite me, I have surround sound.

The red gun very very slightly exaggerated - bite me x2. (however since it`s got some decent menu stuff u can play with this)

Obtained the following prices :

Samsung LE32R87BD 32" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview - Black £499 Amazon

SAMSUNG LE32R87BDX -- SAMSUNG LE32R87BDX 32" LCD TELEVISION HD READY - £454 Beyond Television

Samsung 32" LE32R87BDX/XEU HD Ready Freeview LCD TV - £519.00 Play.com

Samsung LE32R87BDX 32" HD Ready LCD TV with Integrated Freeview £479 homecinematv.co.uk

Samsung LE32R87BDX 32" LCD TV £480 Dabs.com

SAMSUNG 32 HD READY LCD-TV LE32R87BDX/XEU £499 Misco

32" Samsung LCD TV LE32R87BD Widescreen HD Ready Integrated Digital Freeview HDMI (1yr Collect and Return Warranty) £494 MicroDirect

SAMSUNG LE32R88BD LCD Television (same model with an exclusive blue line on stand!) £482 Pixmania.com

SAMSUNG LE32R88BD 32" HD Ready Digital LCD TV (same model with an exclusive blue line on stand!) £593 PCWorld

*unless PCWorld = Pixmania, they need to sit down and chat about what "exclusive means".

I haven`t had a response from SpecialTech, so I can only take that as a no.

Which in some cases may add anything from free to £25 delivery.

Only 2 questions for me atm.

1) Does Nathan have good experiences of Beyond Television ? Or was that a lcuky search result ?

2) Does it seem plausible that if I walk into PCWorld, they`d be willing to come down in the region of £140 ? (buying from a local shop gives me the option of face to face intimidation if I have a hang up with some1 I don`t usually shop with)

no DVI in..never mind.. DVI-I to HDMI adapter sorted.. they are cheap as chips..

And then you have less options

If/when I get an HDTV I want 3 HDMI ports and a DVI port, as well as a VGA in, composite and component

If I'm spending money I want everything I can get

You gotta bare in mind these £500 HD ready TVs are merely entry level, and at 32" the screens aren`t capable of showing the difference between the these and the larger, higher end models - £750+.

One reviewer I read last night went on about the Samsung LE32R87 only using a limited HDMI resolutions, as most of them do at this price range and size, and comparing it to a fellow reviewers larger more expensive unit u can barely see the difference.

I guess u stretch the 32" to beyond 37" and u`d notice a whole lot more.

There are HDTVs out there with DVI inputs but u do have to make sure they`re actually passing digital.

I`m with Kemp on the DVI tech tho, as long as it`s not just there for connectivity and actually does the digital, not just a vga pass through or whatever.

S-Video`s good enough, not too many people complain about the quality of certain TV shows ;) All the non mac editing machines here use s-video. All depends on implementation, leads used and video cards. Inteference counts for alot with these.

If I`m spending £750+, I`m looking for the TV to do exactly what I`d want. £500 is practically entry level, u got 3 HDMI - kewl.

They`re still not as good as monitors, imo.

Special thanks to every1 who took part in this thread, including OC3D, all your inputs were very much appreciated - even tho the thread went on for quite some time :p

Friendly City Link guy just dropped a box off containing a Samsung L32R87BDX...

I`d love to know why I`m not ripping the box open, but continuing to read WC Annihilus` excellent AMD article..
