The headset market is one which seems to have so many options but yet so few,There are gaming headsets for all three major platforms xbox 360,PS3 and the PC but there are very few options for people who use all three. This is where Turtle beach comes in.

The headset im reviewing today is the PX21 this headset can be used on all three platforms and as it comes in with a very reasonable price tag of around £50 this may sound appealing to many budget minded gamers. But the question is whether it's worth it.

PX21_package.jpg

The packaging like all Turtle beach headsets is very annoying and fiddly to open , its nearly impossible without having scissors at the ready but this ensures the headset stays nice and protected from pre-usage drops. It includes the headset,An xbox 360 adapter and an instruction manual teaching you how to plug it into the respected platforms.

Moving onto the actual finish of the headset it has a sleek black finish and plenty of Turtle beach branding including there logo on the left side of the headser which makes it look far better than the £50 you paid for it .

Sadly the plastic they used for it has a very cheap feel that reminds me of a washing up basin but that's to be expected.

Thankfully this doesn't affect the comfort. The PX21'S feel comfortable to wear down to the light but reasonable padding which is made of a material which allows air to reach the skin meaning you can have long gaming sessions without any degree of discomfort something which in terms of headsets is worth its weight in gold.

The headset drowns out any outside noise which is bad news for any girlfriends but allows you to concentrate even when outside distractions don't want you to.It also stops noise from escaping when your wearing them meaning instead of having a portable boom-box like many cheap headsets you have the ability to game during the night without waking anybody up (unless you start nerd raging that is).

This has many user friendly features such as a very long cable (over 12 feet long) but the main thing on this headset which sets it apart from other headsets in this price bracket is its audio mixer which allows you to change many things from the game volume to voice chat volume .It also has bass boost,an audio expander and of course a mic mute All of which gives the user the ability to make the headset best suit them without having to enter lots of menus.

This headset suits the gamer by having a "surround sound" feel which during games such as Call of duty modern warfare allows you to hear what direction the bullets or footsteps are coming from due to the ear in which you can hear them the most from. The audio quality of this headset is more than you would expect, you can hear everything in high quality its not the best on the market but it's far from the worst.

The mic itself is where i find some problems to be found. On the xbox and PS3 it seems to work decently and to purpose but on the pc i find it a little bit quiet and for recording purposes it allows your breath to give it that annoying ,windy sound that some are more than used to hearing from twelve year olds online. The latter problem can be solved with a mic cover or by securing some fabric around the end of the mic.Apart from that it is flexible, has great reach and is good for purpose.

Overall this headset is an all purpose swiss army knife.it can be used on all three platforms,is comfertable and due to the bass boost and clear audio quality it produces it can be used as a simple music headset.Going back to whether it is worth its £50 price the answer has to be for me yes even though in places it feels cheap it still delivers well due to its features and comfort but its down to the user whether they want a multi-platform headset or they want to buy cheaper headsets which suit them more.

Music and sounds kinda my thing lol, i had a very VERY good gaming headset bought it for around £150 the tritton ax pro, true 5.1 (4speakers in each ear cup) and it was amazing for sound whoreing on gaming like COD and BF, and i belive it is multi platform too. Im looking at getting trittons latest creation as soon as it comes out the warhead 7.1. Its a wireless headset so i know the sounds not going to be as good as the ax pro, but wireless is somthing i've been looking forward too.

Many so called "pro gamers" like to use the Astro a40's i've tryed them and can say the tritton ax pros piss all over them and are a good £100 less
