Trouble getting a network started after reinstalling windows 7

I've had to reinstall windows because it stopped logging in today. the computer is working again but the computer doesn't seem to recognise any sort of network or connectivity. My laptop works fine with the internet so it's not the wireless of the ethernet cable. Before it did and I could view the network devices but now nothing.

Not to sound mean but did you reinstall the drivers for your motherboard / NIC ?

That maybe it, but I'm in a difficult position. I don't have any of the installation discs, I had to buy a new copy of windows so that I could actually get the PC to work. Is there a way to get the drivers online?

Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download them. Lots of boards use Realtek 8139 gigabit network chips.
