Sounds a great idea Jim.

I'll be looking into this more when things die down a bit more around here. Wasn't expecting cash to tagged to it, but it is a good idea.

Yeah, its not 'much' but hopefully its enough to give people incentive to help us while also making a bit of pocket money on the site.

If it works out then I'll probably look into a whole user control panel system where you can see all of your previous articles in one place, which ones have been accepted/rejected and why along with ways for you to easily see if the article you are writing has already been posted.

I've started to write several news articles but I get to the point where it appears to just be plagiarism with a few words changed here and there.

Jim mentioned putting your own views across in it but are the articles not meant to be impartial?

Reviews most certainly need to be impartial, but news is more a case of you need to decide what to make of it. If you post everything that you find verbatim then its not that interesting.

Any admins here able to tell me whether my news articles have been accepted?

I don't see them on the front page... :|

Not all articles will be accepted, if it hasnt gone front page then it hasnt.

Well here is me hoping that the two articles I am submitting today make it.

Yeah.

Probably to stop blatant plaguerism.

iirc, Jim said you can copy and paste but he said it adds originality if you do it yourself.

My second article out of the four I submitted had been copy and pasted a lot 'cos I was in a huuuge rush to get to a wedding.

Edit: Here it is.

^ Yeah if you want to you can post news verbatim, but if you do that then you will need to make sure the entire article is a 'Quote' with a link to the original source. Chances are, C+P articles wont make it to the front page really, so for the best chance: read the original article, think about it and write about what it means to you.

So long as its reasonably technically sound and doesn't require a complete re-write by myself or the other editors it will probably be accepted.

Yeah, I forgot to send the source link with my pci-e 3.0 article.

If that happens will the editors PM the submitter for a source link if the article is accepted?

Yeah if its a good article and it's just missing something small then we'll prolly contact you (or PM us if you realise you've missed something).
