Transcoding video to DVD & CUDA

Hi all,

Does anyone happen to know of any software that will let me transcode AVI files to DVD that also uses CUDA??

Nero 10 seems to only support CUDA for finalising projects for editing videos.

Cheers

Cheers for that link..

Just had a little look and it seems pretty much all of them are just transcoding type programs for specific devices.

Oh, I did a quick google search, I didn't really read all through it. But its a place to start I guess. I use DVD flick, i know it used multi thread, but whether cuda or not, is unknown to me.

Yeah, fixed commercial devices in the main.

One I regularly use is MediaCoder http://www.mediacoderhq.com/ 32/64bit and is free.

It is the one you can mess around with the most, for cpu cores or cuda cards, but it 'can' take a bit of getting used to, depending on how deep into it you want to go.

EDIT: their commercial product is called MediaCoder NT Cuda Edition - that's not the one you want to download as it does pretty much the same thing as all the ones in the review link a few posts back.

So even the standard edition doesn't do it either? Doesn't look like it burns.

From what I've been able to work out so far is that while some of the major programs don't support it properly at all for what I want, the odd couple do.

The closest I've gone to it is PowerDirector 9 which does allow you to transcode and burn with CUDA but only on the AVCHD format disc rather than DVD.

Ok tell a lie....

The very last one I've tried out of 6 or so seems to use the graphics card. Only 20 - 25% but still better than nothing.

That said, it doesn't let me compress as many videos on to a DVD as most of the others so the time saved will probably be spent on burning more DVDs.

Oh yeah the one that does work if anyone is interested is Roxio Creator 2011.

Doesn't even look like it's going to finish that quickly!

Argh, can't believe this is the second time I've recommended MediaCoder to someone wanting to transcode using cuda AND burn to DVD.

No, it doesn't burn. (I'll repeat that to myself a few times in hope it'll sink in) I don't think it would even setup the VIDEO folder for you, just transcode the movie into the correct mpg format.

i never use the abilities of a card to encode media.

use software

Well it's not exactly slow on a SB chip up at 4.5GHz but it would be nice to be able to use the GFX card... The thing cost enough.
