Too good to be true?

A friend of mine recently asked me a question. He passed me this link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Desktop-Gaming-PC-Quad-10-6Ghz-8GB-RAM-500GB-8600GT-1GB_W0QQitemZ230288800959QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230288800959&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

and asked, is this a good deal? Now, my immediate thought was, well yes, looks almost too good, is it a scam? Then i thought, hmm its been a year since i bought parts for a pc, maybe prices have changed? but even then it seemed extreme.

My final hypothesis was that it might be a real deal, but with the parts liek the "branded" ram and the psu cheaped out on. Even so, if the deal is real, it looks like it could be a good buy just to scrap the bits.

So, what do you reckon?

P.S Hullo again all, been a while! and ooo 300 posts!

SLIed 8600GTs as well.. no thanks!

Build a rig yourself for that amount, it is most likely a very cheap PSU and has not been tested at 75%+ load.. most likely to blow TBH!

Agreed with Nath ;)

Hmm, while you seem quick to down the niggling features like the fact that indeed, i reckon, the psu will be crap, do we think that it would actually function? would it perform well for the piddling little price of 350? Is it worth buying it and stripping out the graphics card, cpu, ram and hard drive?

Oooooh hang on. Hmm ive made a

up here, the original link i was sent was 350 quid. That is 700... hmm, ok, possibly NOT a worthwhile deal. Let me dig out the 350 quid link a sec.

got it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-X-BLADE-Q6600-9-6GHZ-500GB-8GB-DDR2-ATI2400-1GB_W0QQitemZ140273251093QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140273251093&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A16%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

Nope, that graphics card is useless, I had an AGP version of it.. and to say the least it was a let down, big time! Even though it was a hot card.. it didn't perform to my likings!

Seriously, if he can get the parts for that.. then so can you, build one up yourself.

It seems you have enough knowledge on how to do so, why not ask your mate if he would trust you with the components to build it up for him? A much better deal!

Yah build one yourself imo, buying used computers online, nonetheless from ebay is a risky endeavor that I like to avoid if at all possible.

Something seriously needs to be done about people on ebay adding up core speeds, its a flipping pis5 take

Both 'rigs' are pieces of **** and anyone who says otherwise knows nothing about hardware.

Build it yourself.
