To Upgrade or not?

So I was planning to upgrade my motherboard and cpu to get a bit more rendering power for when I do make my little youtube videos. I have a 2600K @ 4.6ghz 1.3v on a z77 Mpower.

I was wondering should i upgrade to a 3930K since they are relatively cheap and the motherboard prices are still at a tad bit not cheap and get another 8gb kit? or just stay with my current set up?

SLI is in the menu but thats IF the other post i made earlier gets a reasonable amount of answers to one direction.

Things to concider:

1- I run 5760x1080 resolution
2- I got a 850 watt power supply
3- I don't care about one's thoughts, I really am interesting people who has upgraded from a 2600K to a 3930K

I'll give my thoughts anyway. If you have the money then sure go for it. Is it worth the total cost? Not really no. Probably better of with a 4770k and a very high quality motherboard for half the cost of a 2011 motherboard -- one worth buying anyways.

wouldn't even bother with that, for making little youtube vids a 2600k would suffice and an upgrade to a 4770k would be unreasonable.
stick with what you got till skylake.

Instead of excluding everybody who hasn't got first hand experience with this exact upgrade, which, let's face it, is almost everybody because it's a very specific thing to ask for, and you ask for everybody's opinion, one of whom might have done the upgrade, and if they have they will probably bring it to your attention so you can rely on that opinion slightly more than others, but don't just exclude the others, because that's not how a forum works.

might not of upgraded from there ourselves but we know from cost/performance it isn't worthing.

you don't have to do something to work out it isn't the best option.

No of course not, I did say he should listen to everybody's opinion. But it is undeniable that somebody that has done it will know more accurately the difference in terms of performance increase etc. and can justify it, rather than someone else who can just say it's small from intuition/general knowledge.

Good god why, and it's at 4.6Ghz - what's the point of upgrading, by the time you start making videos regularly you'll probably have both the money and the necessity for something of the such.

I need to apologize for that statement its was not just disrespectful but incredibly specific. i really am sorry for that statement. What I should of said was " I care more about the opinion of those who has upgraded from LGA 1155 to LGA 2011, all other input will be accepted. "

The funny part is I do have the money for it and I do have a few concerns about a few choices that have been made by you guys:

1- Doesn't the 4770K have only 16 lanes of PCI-E?
2- Doesn't the 4770K have heat issues? Even with a RS360 i feel it will have issues keeping it cool with a 30+ ° ambient temp
3- Will 8x/8x bother me at such a high resolution? Compared to LGA 2011 16x/16x
4- What about the 4820K?
5- When more power is need won't it be easy to just switch CPUs rather than platforms?
6- Is LGA 2011 more upgrade friendly and won't it have a longer life span than other sockets?

Here is more info to aid ( may very well confuse the mater more though )

Programs that are always actively running :
Adobe photoshop CS6, Google Chrome with about 10 tabs open, Notepad++, Eclipse, Realtemp,

Programs that a frequently used:
Sony Vegas Pro 12, VmWare 9, Blaze Media Pro, Xilisoft Video Converter, Microsoft Excel 2010 and Blender 3D

Games played:
Battlefield 3 and 4, The Elder Scroll Skyrim with many many many mods, Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghost, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3 and Starcraft 2.

Well, its at 1.3000 volts so its with in Intel spec, and its been running like that since i overclocked it about 2 months ago, i shut down my PC every 14 days for a minor cleaning>

Is it worth it, no, not in my opinion.

That's true, didn't consider that. I will be moving with in the next 20 days or so to a new building, And I really do like to build a head then add on more later. Did that with my i7 920 a few years back.

No I don't make a video for a living, nor do i intend to. how ever i do a lot of editing especially after a diving trip and them over to whom ever comes along for these dives

well a 15 to 45 min gameplay ins't a big video at all. even at 5760x1080. Nor is editing around 120 gb video to about 2-5gb. takes about 2-3 hours to render.

Well first off don't worry about PCI lanes. Just a noobish action.

Your watercooling and worried about temps? Seems a little ironic?
4770k only gets hot once you hit its voltage wall which for most is 1.3v
4820 is basically a 4770k with a different socket. If going 2011 then go for a 4930k with a rampage iv. No one knows how the future 2011 socket will go. LGA 1150 is also on its end rumors have it.

In the end IMO it is not worth it. You have the money so it is ultimately your decision.
