to build or not to build now

hi guys

lost if I'm honest and cant make my mind up, ive been thinking going intel for a few months now but the more reading ive been doing ryzen seems to be the better long term build, I'm happily plodding aloung with a 1070 on a sabretooth/9590 black at the moment.

but the 1700x on a hero with 3200 is seriously got my attention, I have a ek a240g system that has been sat on my shelf for ages now whilst I try to sort out what to do lo.

its a gamer build no streaming etc watch Netflix surf etc daily user, so is it worth building now or would you wait for the new ryzen upgrade.

all advice much appreciated

ohh and happy new year to all hope you don't have to bad a head in the morning :D

Few things to note.

1. You don't need water cooling really on a Ryzen. That could well change with Ryzen + but yeah, for right now it isn't necessary. However, given you have the kit any way go for it.

2. The CH is a good mobo choice, and one that is likely to last throughout all of the Ryzen revisions.

3. Wait for + before you buy. Even if it's only 300mhz or so that does make a massive difference IMO.

If you want to buy right now get the 1600 or 1700. Don't pay a single penny more for an X CPU it's simply not worth it, especially if you are going to replace it with Ryzen +.

Hi Alien

thanks for the quick reply and yep makes sence, will need advice when it comes to clocking later though, is there a firm release for the plus or is it mid 2018 think I just read about new mbs with 400 chips or was that something else I was reading

I would get RAM that is on the supported list. Otherwise you are going to have headaches.

+ is Q1. So within the next 90 days or so. Worth waiting for IMO, and especially as you have a more than competent CPU already.

serious thanks for making me not grab a cpu on my recent parts shop matey the price slash they've just made is very nice, might just grab the 1800x now.

No worries man. It was a really bad idea to buy then unless you were desperate tbh.
