Thoughts on a laptop?

So,

There's a shop near where I live, called 'Electrical Clearance Store'...

Basically, there used to be a currys and pc world in the same retail park and when they merged, they went into one, leaving a shop free. This shop then became the clearance store, and it sells all end of the line products from pc world. For example, all display models that they have in PC world get sold there. So they're not strictly new, but I wouldnt really call them used either.

I'm building a rig as well, and went in there today just looking around, and saw one of these:

That's listed as used for £750 on that site, and in this clearance store it was only £530.

What do you guys reckon?

With the i7 and 540m, blu-ray and a 640gb HDD, I think that's a steal really

Gunna go get it then! cheers for the help

I have my desktop as well which will be running a 3770k and a 7950 anyway, so im not even bothered if it doesnt run any game in max settings, as long as it's fast

thats a great deal, i dont like the left handed mouse pad though. but for such price it doesnt matter too much

I went to the shop, turns out it didnt come with a battery, but i bought it anyway, and ordered one online.

I use it plugged in anyway so battery life isnt even that important.

They had an macbook air in as well for 580 which seemed pretty good, but spec wise just wasnt as good as this.

Just like to update you all, been running overnight doing updates and stuff.

Had a few issues with it to start. whenever I buy a laptop or anything like that, I usually do the toshiba recovery, to wipe anything that may have been left on if it was a display model or anything. So did that, that all went fine until 'Setup is preparing your computer for first use'...

That stayed on for a good half an hour, with the hard drive turning on and off - thought at this stage the hard drive was dead.

So, shut it down, and clean installed windows from a disk, and everything worked perfectly then.

Drivers were a little annoying, as I didnt have any of the wifi adapter numbers to download drivers for to start scan for hardware changes properly. After PCI database checks I managed to find that, then windows update managed to install every other driver itself apart from the Chipset which was easily obtainable online.

So now, Windows fully installed, all updates complete, all drivers installed, and it's amazing.

Insanely fast for a laptop that doesnt even have an SSD. The HDD in it is 640gb and fast enough to run this thing quickly. the quad core with hyper threading i7 in it does the job perfectly, and the 540m graphics card managed to run black ops flawlessly in max settings.

WEI scores (not that they're that representitive) are: 7.4 - 7.5 - 4.8 - 6.6 - 5.9

And 3D mark 11 scores P1019 - Graphics - 906, Physics 4411, Combined - 839.

No idea if the 3D mark scores are good for a laptop but I know the WEI scores are!

Considering this laptop cost me £530, and retails on Amazon for £1110.99, I think I've got an incredibly good deal, and I couldnt be happier!

Thanks for the advice
