So about a week ago i did my first overclock...So it was stable for the first week did about six hours of orthos worked fine no errors ect...But after a week, i restarted my computer and i got a freaking boot error!!!! ok solved it by loading optimized defaults and keeping normal vcore for my cpu. But just today i restarted and it says "Wrong system disk inserted" I have no freaking clue what is wrong now...I disabled the cdrom in the boot section did nothing...I am fed up with this motherboard to be honest (Link will be below) I mean, I dont understand how this motherboard can well mess up this much...Any sugestions on how to fix this problem will be welcome, i can also take a picture of the errors if needed. I am hoping that i will not need to get a new motherboard. Would delay my 8800GTS by a month...If you also need details of my overclock I can post those... I am all ears! Also, if this post isnt clear sorry, I am VERY annoyed right now.

Iirc, the 945 chipset dosn't officaly support c2d cpus, but a few manufacturers engineerd theyre boards to make it so. That may mean that it dosn't like the high fsb that the c2d can handle.

*finishes stabing in the dark*

Have you got the latest bios?

Well firstly I'd make sure you've got no floppy disks or CD's in your drives just in case its trying to boot from them. Other than that, you're not using RAID are you? - could be a corrupted array.

Not using raid, I unhooked my floopy after i first installed windows. At first i thought it was trying to boot from my bf2 disk took taht out restarted it gave me the same error. I was fully aware that the 945 board doesnt support the C2D when i purchased this board, but I heard some good things about this board from a person on my msn, he was wrong. I am probably just going to have to put off the 8800GTS for another month and buy my self a new motherboard. *Tears*

hook the lot back up and try booting from a live disk, if nothing is wrong your problem is with your HDD / BIOS settings regarding HDD

I have no errors when i put in the windows xp x64 disk does what it is soposed to, what bios setting could be messing this up?

my 945 board aint bad im planing on getting a c2d soon but asus cant give a real answer if i can run e6420 or 6320 i might just get a 6600 after 22nd their suspose to be under 200 bucks.

I just didn't do enough research on my part, my board is crap to put it simple. Maybe i got a bad board, i dont know just going to order a ASUS 650I i think it is on my birthday instead of a 8800GTS 320 mb :(

No chance of RMA'ing the board?

I take it that from the start on a fully fresh system it worked, if so then why not just fully format and use default settings.

I had a case a couple of years ago where the optimised settings were causing the problem.

Worth a try if it means you can get the 8800.

Ok, flashed the bios, problems with booting appeared to have gone away. Little disapointed i still cant push 364fsb :(

*EDIT* Also, as long as the problems stay away, the 8800 is back on the top of my list :D

Ouch sorry to hear about your troubles.

Here's a tip, never buy any Gigabyte product.

Actually Gb is a pretty respectable company that make good/solid mid-range products.

Sometimes it's just luck of the draw with motherboards and FSB tbh. I'm still wondering whether to sell my DFI or not...
