Thinking of upgrading

Thinking of selling my 460s and upgrading to a 660/670.

Would I get a performance increase upgrading to a 660 TI over using two 460 1gbs in SLI?

I'd probably still say go for a 670 tbh. I think a 660ti will perform better than your current setup, but a 670 would just be a little better :)

Not really. Only if you plan on watercooling. If you dont, get a non-reference card like a KFA2, Gigabyte Windforce or ASUS DCII

670
(660ti pricing is cack (uk))
Quickest warranty turnarounds (uk):

kfa2
gigabyte

ok turnarounds
msi
evga

slower turnarounds
everyone else

Watercooling:
You'd want a ref 670 or a ref 680pcb 670, unless there is a fullcover block for your custom pcb or you are willing to use core only blocks with heatsinks.

Cooler removed:
evga = retain warranty
msi = retain warranty
kfa2 = i don't know
gigabyte = i don't know
asus = i don't know
budget brands (club3d/inno3d/pov/palit/gainward/etc) = warranty void

Overclocking:
Mostly pot luck

Cards with better thermals / power delivery may help. MSI power edition is the only 670 that can be overvolted on the core, pll and mem, which may help.

Best thermals/acoustics
gigabyte windforce
msi twinfrozr iv
asus DCII
Are all very good.The ref 670 cooler is rubbishas it growls. The evga 670 ftw has the ref 680 cooler which is much better.

There's a starting point for you

Any reason the KFA2 isnt in the best thermals/acoustics category? Mine keeps it under 65/70 degrees under load with the fans locked to 30% so it's inaudible.

As for the warranty if you remove the cooler on the KFA2, I have no idea either - but since no one makes waterblocks - or even has any plans to for the kfa2 670, you shouldnt really need to.

I just left it out because I'm not sure about it. I'd guess it's fine as 600 series doesn't make much heat anyway..

For cooler removal, you might want to to give it a better clean or re-apply tim, or maybe use a core only block.

Interesting note for kfa2 uk customers, they took over BFGs uk rma centers (hence good rma turnaround).

Suppose so for cleaning yeh. I wouldnt bother with the core only block though.

I cant see people wanting to remove the cooler for cleaning much before 2 years anyway, at which point if the warranty expires it doesnt make a difference anyway.

I'd just say if you dont plan on watercooling, get whichever is cheapest out of KFA2, Gigabyte Windforce and ASUS DCII.

If you are definitely watercooling, get the EVGA FTW

If there's a possibility of watercoolingin the future, dont get the KFA2, get the Windforce as you can fit a 680 block to it - but the cooler will be quiet enough and well performing enough anyway so it isnt gunna be too loud for use.

That's something I missed, warranties. I think evga is 3 years with upgraed options, msi is 3 years etcetc

Yea tbh I wouldn't go with universal blocks either, but some people might.

TBH with one of the locked voltage 670s the gain from watercooling is likely only temps and acoustics.

Thanks for the replies everybody.

I am thinking of water cooling in the near future so maybe the evga card would be best.

idk about that.. not been an nvidia lightning that wasn't the top single gpu since the gtx 260

HAWK? maybe.
